Beat a V in my C32 this morning!
I have witnessed a prior thread go on for about 125 replies. Saw it go from vehicle specs comparison, to emotional responses. I like the CTS-V in looks and believe it is to be respected for it's performance. I could tell the caddy was the V coming from behind on the freeway (51) in Phx. due to the front extended grill below (air dam) moving quickly through traffic. No doubt this was to catch up to me after witnessing me move from the slow lane across to the fast lane with some hard acceleration. He came along side on the left in the car pool lane. It was all black with the CTS-V emblems with the flags crossed below the emblem. He passed slowly and I got a close up of the dual exhaust and smooth rumble. I slowly caught him bumper to bumper at 60mph. I dropped to 3rd (sweet spot at 60) and held my speed. We were approaching a van in his lane in the distance. I waited for him to race me to my open lane (plenty of room). We drove several seconds before I thought ok, your being kind giving me the start. What you don't know, is I don't need it. You do. I launched and pulled a car length. By the time he pulled into my lane to go around the fast approaching van he was several car lengths back. He then pulled back into the car pool lane. By then I was slowing back to 60mph and waited again. There was plenty of open freeway to clear up any disagreements. Instead he approached very slowly and passed very slowly without a second attempt, until I was committed to the off ramp at my exit and then he decided to race down the fast lane by himself as if to tell me your lucky!
To be fair, my C32 is a Stage 1 RENNtech and runs strong (flywheel 410hp and 428torque). In my opinion this was more fair with V6 Stage 1 vs Corvette V8 in a new Caddy design, 3400lb vs 3850lb, 410hp vs 400hp and mine was clearly less expensive with upgrade included. Again, I respect the V, but I had to do this for my C32 brothers and it was fun.
