C32 tranny problem/???
Hi all, I could not find a post about the problem i'm having with my c32 so i'm making a post about the problem i encounter. I was driving on my way home around 25mph I decides to down shift in to 4th, but my cluster shows i'm on * D *, i try several times and the 5spd auto tranny does not respond
. I decides to pull over, and follow the steps of resetting the ECU, Once i reset my ecu all when back to normal. Now my question is, does this happen often with c32's ? Or this is a problem i should bring it in to check it out ASAP? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

That's odd. Were you able to get it to manually shift into any lower gear or were you just trying 4th? I know it has the safety built in as to not allow you to downshift into too low a a gear if going to fast, but at 25mph you should have been able to drop it down into 2nd with no problems.
Out of curiousity, why would you be in 4th at 25mph anyway?

yeah.
I was driving in traffic around 25mph speed limit, I decided to change in to 4th gear, i kept trying to shift in to lower gears but nothing seemed to work. I pulled over and reset my ecu. All went back to normal hum it is odd... I hope nothing serious with the tranny, or engine .

If anything it sounds like it would be electical and not something major with the tranny. Possibly something with the TCU as, from my understanding, that is what tells it when/how to shift?
Does your's have the infamous "jerk" at ~1500rpm? I didn't look at the year of your car, but if it's an '02 C32 this is a very common problem. If you have extended warranty there is a fix for it. I just had mine done (see the "my saga continues" thread) and they replaced the valve somthing or other and the TCU. You might be able to kill two birds with one stone...

There might be a problem with the gear position selector. (electronic device in your console that tells you what gear you're in & allows up/down shifts e.g. P R N D + - )
Have the dealer check it out. If you need the selector, you can have mine free of charge. (I ended up buying a new one because the cheap "chrome" trim around it cracked. Only way to replace the $3 plastic piece is to buy the electronic unit)
Assuming the trim piece around the selector is undamaged, you can just pop out the old electronic unit and replace it with this one. Takes about 10 minutes and no tools are required.
