cyncarver......too late i ruined my two front tires..sucks. one was a brand new ps2. ordered replacement kumho spt ($154 @ discount tire).
got the car back a few hrs ago with brandons heat exchanger installed. left the bumber off- drove straight to the body shop for fender rolling and paintwork. hopefully this takes care of the interference issue. rather than replace the mirror housing i got the chrome covers from formymercedes so now i'm blinging....
the car just feels awesome with the kmac bushings. i had my guy take them out and lube the inner sections. they don't squeek now hopefully the extra viscous lube holds and is a permanent fix. however the control arm bushing did have some play, will have to moniter.
my front 245/40 bfg r1s were mounted and just dropped off- they are wide but hopefully they will fit without hitting strut tube.
the car was not holding charge whilst at the shop for the HE install past week. may have a short somewhere.....will address that when i get it back.

Find a body shop that will work to "re-shape" the fender with maximum wheel clearance.
If yo do this front and back you can get 285 in the rear and 255 in the front (with a carlsson RS coilovers with a fairy low ride height).

response from kmac
my question-
"Re: squeaky bushings
Kevin, i had the bushings removed for lubing. this seems to have solved the problem but it has been only one day. something else- i do track the car- the control arm bushing had 2 mm of play. when first inserted there was none. is this normal?
let me know please. i have a track day next week.

If you want to have the fenders painted go for having the fenders "flared" out as much as possible with the bumper still lining up. You can move it all out about half an inch and just bring it back into line for the bumper. This will allow you to run 245 fronts with a low front end or 255 if you use stock shock tubes.
Find a body shop that will work to "re-shape" the fender with maximum wheel clearance.

lrp 4/10
started the 2008 season back at lrp in april. funny enough 2 of the guys from last yr (1st post in this thread) remembered me. one was the dude with the 911 TT he had a cayman this time. other guy was another 911 (NA 993)driver they both came over to say hi.
car ran strong- we had a magnificent day. kind of day you would have loved to take to putter around the yard much less run a track with your buddies. temps hit 70 by midday. the amg felt strong and only slightly better with 100 octane. the pump gas i was running prob still has ethanol (winter blend).
so...hats off and to codesmith's heat exchanger! i pumped out fluid right after coming off track and it was cool, not warm as when i had the stock unit. Thanks Brandon..great product.
i had 245/40 bfg r1s in front. managed to fit them with aide of what looks like a 2 mm spacer. had more front end stick and was turning laps 1.06-1.05 range.
an electic mix of machinery was present. will turner /turner motorsport attended in test and tune mode. a grand am team running acuras also showed up (their name slips me). the turner boys took a smart out for "hot" laps towards days end...lol.
i may have one more event left with c32 (next friday), the m3 is being registered next week and will be coming on stream in a month or 2.

Great to hear about your HE from Brandon. Glad to see you had ALOT of fun to my friend
One question, How much negative camber are you running
Judging from the pics, I would say about 2.5 degrees negative, and then my next question, How did you get it
See yeah
PS: I get my first fun of the summer this Saturday, can't wait!!

Hey MRAMG1,
AWDman's sig states KMac front camber bushings... my guess is that's where the negative camber's from

yes kmac camber bushings. up to now i have no squeeking and i REALLY like the precision it adds. in fact, after the m3 is in track mode, i'm going to go back to stock front sways and dial down the -ve to about -1 deg. (i think i have -2 now).
mramg1- post a report after the event, enjoy and BE SAFE!

did you ever dyno your car or run a 1/4 mile with your car (I know it sounds mundane compared to actual tracking)? Seems like it must be pretty strong (might be time for you to pick up those 030 package brakes too lol).

i did dyno- 352 rwhp dynojet i think, in 3rd. so factor 1 psi more i'm prob 360 = to 430 crank. the car feels stronger now since i did the bigger HE and johnson pump.
i've thought about 1/4 mileing it but not really seriously. maybe one day. my head's buried in another place
the 030 brakes are like jewelry oh so beautiful. i could only think about them if i stopped tracking the c32 but, at any rate it would be for purely cosmetic reasons as the stockers are good enough for hard track use.

wow thats nuts! Do you think there is a way to re-route the brake ducts or find some better way to cool the brakes? Seems like that would help a lot.

handing over the baton.......
i ran lightning at nj motorsports park early july with the c32 as the m3 wasnt ready.....finally - it was prepped enough allowing me to get it on track this past wed at lime rock with scda. the car was light, controllable and fast enough with stock power. loosing 300+ lbs makes a big difference.
lots of nice cars on track including a gtr. 4 generations of m3s. photos here http://www.tracktimephotos.com/gallery_view.php
- input SCDA, LRP, 8/13/08.
the c32 has been my daily driver/commuter since sept 2007......my 5th anniversary of ownership is coming up.....car has 82,000 miles all in all it has been outstanding and my best automotive ownership experience so far.....
5th, opm,mramg..sorry i've been out of touch. What have you guys been up to?

Hey there AWDman:
Glad to hear your still having fun
I have been running the heck out oif mine at Beaverun, too cloose to home for me to stay away, only 10 miles
Anyway, my new pulley and HE worked wonders for me. I was pulling just about everything on track. My favorite was the Tirerack sponsered M3. It was a full blown race car, cage, gutted, slicks. Could almost keep up in the twisties with my street tires, and would pass with ease on the striaghts. Corded a stock Pierrile, on the center rib, that scared the you know what out of me. Car pushed pretty bad, but again this was becuase of that BAD front tire. Have my Bridgestone 050 PP's all the way around now, and they droped me by about 1.5 seconds a lap. Got to love a street tire that can do that.
Hope everything is going well with you my friend. This weekend I am putting in the washers on my front spindles to get more negative camber, wish me luck.
See yeah

oh yeah....the can be c32 will be quick on the fast tracks no doubt but the m3 is more fun....hey you're doing a great job on street tires. the camber will help a bit with wear you really need more tho. prob is the soft bushings deflect under load.....that's an advantage the kmacs have....
i meant to give my pads but i kinda grinded them down so they are worthless now.
it's going to take another 6 months to finally finish the M3. but it will be great when i'm done......i have visions of towing it with an ml63 but let's see if i strike oil in my backyard first...........

I bought them on a recomendation from Tirerack after I was going to purchase my old trusted Goodyear GS-D3's. They are the Bridgestone 050 Pole Positions. They were made for Autocross regulations, ie treadware is only 140, the minimum that the SCCA allows for stock/street class. All I can tell you is that they are one AMAZING tire on the track. They are almost as good as Kuhmo R tires, for lap times. So far, about 1000 miles they have proven to be quite, good in the rain, EXTRA sticky, and just plain FUN/Predictable on the track. I have run 1 1/2 events with them now. The 1/2 was stock perriels up fornt with them in the back. As long as you understand that you won't get 10,000 miles out of them they are a MUST HAVE. By FAR the best street tire that I have ever taken to the track.
See yeah

Towing is both a plus and minus. Towing is not easy or fun. Most of the time you must concentrate and think few moves ahead. If you never towed before try U-Haul or similar for your first event. Armed with such experience you’ll make a much better buying decision. IOW, make sure you do your homework. We all see those monster closed trailer at the track. They are certainly awesome, but towing one is a chore. Before I knew anything about towing I was planning to tow a 24’ by Discovery setup for off-roading. It seemed reasonable given following quote from MSN:
“The Discovery is priced squarely in Explorer/Blazer territory, though it has a look that is unique in its class. Towing capacity up to 7,700 lbs. and a built-in Class III hitch receiver make the Discovery a viable choice for trailering…”
An empty 24 footer weigh between 3500 and 4500 lbs + my car weigh less than 3000lbs + some tools and fuel. The 7700lbs target seemed every achievable. Man that was such naïve thinking. After doing some research I ended up getting 2000 Ford E-350 Super Duty Extended. It was gutted and a small shop was setup in the back with compressor, toolbox, workbench, electric cooler, etc. I got a used open 18’ steel tilt trailer with a large toolbox and tirerack. The combo is awesome and very convenient to use. I have everything I can possibly want while at the track. However, if I had to do it again I would go with a 16’ aluminum trailer with tirerack only. The difference between that and my trailer is around 1200lbs. It might not sound like much, but its HUGE. I might go aluminum in a few years. Now, the van is rate 10,000lbs and the trailer only weighs around 2400lbs. Yet I still truly wish I bought 16’ aluminum. Can you picture the disappointments of Discovery + 24’?
