IC pump going out (again) after only 22000km / 13000miles
i had my IC pump replaced at 60000kms, and now i have reached 82000km and it seems like my ic pump is going out again!
is it possible to have a such a short-lived ic pump? it should last 3 times longer (50000kms)
symptoms are as follows
the car lost power and it feels ashmatic on monday and tuesday
i drove out wedneday and thrusday and the car is strong for the entire day
today (friday) the car lost power again.

Apparently, the Ford Lightning uses the same IC pump for substantially less. Although, I don't know if you guys have the Ford Lightning down in Melbourne, where you live at. I'm sure some Ford product in your market shares this pump. Apparently the number is same, except the suffix - SEE BELOW. Good luck!

Remember, the I/C pump failure is most noticed when ambient temps are high or engine temps are up, due to harder driving. Where either a possible cause of the loss of power on the bad days? The car would perform mostly normally if the outside or engine temps were cool.
If things were cool, you might have another problem. 13,000 miles does seem like a short life, even for the hated I/C pump.

The ford lightning pump is available in Australia. They are a little more expensive then in the states but still 1/5th the price of genuine.

After replacing the pump, make sure the IC circuit is bleed of air. If you have an air pocket, the pump may not do it's job and may run dry, causing it to fail sooner. The orientation of the inlet helps to prime the pump.

let the bosch vs jonhson pump debate begin

-direct fit and mounting/only require wire splicing

I don't know much about IC pumps..but it seems the johnson is the way to go. Although it may be a pain to install, once u have it installed you hopefully wont have to worry about replacing it in the near future.
