Hitting rev limiter on 1-2 shift.

I have had my 03 C32 for a month now. 33,000 miles on the car. Just today I came across a new problem. If I start out slow, then floor it after it shifts into second, it downshifts to 1st, accelerates like mad, and hits the rev limiter before shifting into second. Same deal with ESP on or off. Never did this before. It has the Valeo radiator, but I havent experienced surging or jerking yet, that I know of.

Anybody else ever have this and get it solved?

I've never hear of this, and I would take the problem seriously. There's no way it should hit the rev limiter. Warranty?

it is normal...if you are around 3k rpm's in second gear and floor it the car will try to downshift to maximze power...this will result in the car being at around 5k rpm's in first and it will rev to redline faster than the TCU can shift...

it will only do this on the 1-2 shift, fyi...

nope, i can make it happen repeatedly if i want to...but i wouldn't suggest doing that of course...just ease into the throttle a little more instead of flooring it and you will be fine..

04 C32
Have the glycol test performed. My 32 did that on the 1/2, and when the tranny got really bad, it would do it on the 2/3 every now and then. I'm not sure if the car still does it on the 1/2 since the radiator/tranny was replaced.

I'd check out the glycol levels regardless.

Yep I think it is normal as well. My car did it from the moment it was broken in until the day I sold it. The car just can't think quick enough to execute the downshift and then upshift a second later. The car cant line up the application of power after the down shift and the retard the tq for the shift and **** all at once. IT gets confused and oops bumps the rev limiter. My C320 did this, C32 did it etc.

Unless you seen the gylcol issue in your car I would not worry about it.

Mine just did it

Yup, I thought it was the rear wheels slipping like when we drive a manual, and slam it into 2nd...I guess it could be the limiter...

Is this only when you leave it in "auto"? It shouldn't do that if you are manually shifting. At least mine won't do that....
