Black Chrome accents

So i've been sitting here looking at grills and so forth for my silver C32, and came upon the idea of just getting everything black chromed

what do you guys think? I'm considering getting the wheel centers, badges, grill, and anything else that is chrome redone in black chrome for a little contrast on the car

Good idea or bad one?

here is an example of what black chrome looks like for those of you that dont know

umm not really my taste. However I don't have any problems with chrome lip.
Or maybe it depends on the car as well.. they might look good on a CLS. I don't know..

In my honest opinion it would really come down to the color of your car. I for example have a black C32 so if you were to just paint lets say the rims and the OEM grill black crome it would probably come out nice.

Post pictures if you decide to do them.

I think im going to black chrome my grill, along with everything else thats chrome on my car

just contacted my painter... Alsa makes a black chrome paint, hes going to spray some peices for me to test it out to see if it comes out the way i think it will

Also, for those that have never seen it in person, the black chrome looks just like chrome, only its a couple shades darker... it doesnt actually look black (in most cases)

I wouldn't do full black chrome for the wheels. The lip maybe, but definitely do the face of the wheel some other color like the charcoal or flat black. The black chrome can be an accent part.

as far as other parts IMO black car will be better for the black chrome pieces. Silver will look better with flat or gloss black grille and trims.

+1. IMO chrome should always be an accent, instead of majority. Just like the chrome accent on the stripes on our car

Sweet.

Black chrome looks more liquid, less shiny and in your face like silver chrome.

The very shade subdues the glitz, so a bit more just might work and look incredible. I'm with you on this one. I don't like the overstatement that all chrome makes, but give it a richness and tone it down, you may have a stunner.

thats exactly my concept!

Right now im looking to do:
-benz emblem (hood and trunk)
-front grill
-amg and c32 logos
-door inserts (the chrome things that line the side of the car)

that way there will be no more shiny silver chrome on my car, itll all be replaced by black chrome

i also think it will match my carbon fiber lip and spoiler better

**Update!!**

Got the black chrome to finally stick to a formerly chrome peice

here is how it turned out (i used a spare mitsu emblem off my evo)

turned out a little darker then i expected... but imma keep playing with it till i get it the way i want.... as you can see, its still highly reflective

looks good

I have been trying to find a source to order black crome for my car but haven't had any luck. I guess I'll have to go the DIY route. Could you give me more details of the paint and the surface prep you used.

Honestly, I would say the darker the better. That triple diamond looks good.

This moderate plan (i.e., no wheels) sounds good. Could be very unique yet tasteful. Post pics!

I personally feel it will look good. Because I agree silver and chrome is just...ehhh. but Silver with black chrome sounds good I say go for it. I was thinking about getting my car painted silver and then painting the grill black with carbon fiber trunk spoiler and front bumper lip.

But if you like it, go for it! other people's approval is not needed because if you went off what everyone thought you are going to end up with your C looking like everyone else's. But from what you are showing it looks like a good idea to me.

I'm just saying...
