In my opinion, personalized plates spark too much attention. In some areas people get too jealous and might key your car. Maybe its just me, but I would never get personalized plates because sometimes my car is not always in a garage

Although personal plates are tempting. I drive like I stole the car so I have always received the advice that it's an easy way to clearly identify you. For this reason I don't get them- Just a thought-

2001 E320 RWD - Brilliant Silver/Ash: 100,000+
Another thought: I could not get a couple of vanity plates that I preferred to mine because they were already taken. I chose SILBER because that is the German word for silver, and that's the color of my car. If it is black by any chance, try for SCHWARZ - I think that is nice, plus I would love to have a black MB next time around, not to mention a plate like that.

BACK ON TOPIC:
The problem with vanity plates is that if it expresses anything thas has a nature of opposition, its more tempting to key your car. EXAMPLE:
your plate is: IH8BMW. Your driving down the turnpike, and you cut off someone that drives a BMW. he honks his horn, you flip him the bird. he takes your plates down, because its not that hard to remember.
two days later, you come home at night, park up your car. that guy just might throw a brick in your winsheild.
------- OR ---------
he follows you (discretely) and once you stop, he keys your car.
ive seen this happen before. many times. so if ur gonna get vanity plates, try not to **** any one off.

+1. Don't personalize your plate. It seems childish.
The only one that I like so far belonged to an ex co-worker's yellow Honda S2000 roadster, and his plate said "SPF30"
