Installing H & R sport springs...

this next week and wondering if i should get #4 pads?

Keep in mind that i will need to drive 1300 miles back to school with a full car, so there can't be any rubbing.

What is the best website for OEM parts or should i go to my local MB dealer?

I only have 17's, don't know if that causes less rubbing or not but would like some help on this one.

Thanks for the help

I just did this mod last week. H&R with #4 pads. Car looks great and change in the ride is almost unnoticeable - a tad bit firmer. I also have the stock 17".

Go for it. Don't worry.

I did this a couple weeks ago and used the #4 pads and even then it's a little low in the rear for my tastes. I haven't had any rubbing with a full trunk of luggage and golf clubs and stuff on a long trip, but I haven't tried it will full grown adults in the rear (although the kids and all their trappings in the back seat must be close )

Anyways, I've had no problems so far. If you search for my German Carfest thread there are pics of my car with the new springs in.

You'll love these springs - makes the car look how it was supposed to look and drive much more like what I was expecting when I got the car, as opposed to it's generally docile nature.

Oh yeah - I was also wondering where to source the pads. Turns out they only cost like $18 or at the dealer. So I ordered through them.

also, i just got this car saturday and should be getting the following in the next weeks:

H & R sport springs
New chrome grill
flat hood emblem
clear side markers
green air filter
rear spoiler
chrome surface behind door handle ( don't know if this will look good or not)
sprint booster
"true" xenon headlights, i just wanted a clear look so i didn't go all out with the bi-x's
and i already had my resonator removed.

gotta say, i'm a little nervous because my little brothers high school friend is installing of this but apparently he's been doin this forever and he'll be cheap. I know for a fact though that this is his first mercedes, probably first import for that mattter.

Keepin my fingers crossed

will try and post before and after pics!

Skip the chrome behind the door handles -- it won't look good
Also, what are these true xenon headlights? The 2002 xenon lamps are not clear. The only clear headlamps are the 2003+ BiXenons, the 2005+ Halogens, and the aftermarket Depot lamps

It says they are 8000K, I just like the clean blue look to them and they look easy to install. Would i have to take this to my MB dealer and have them edit my computer to turn on the xenon settings?

I'm awaiting my order of H&R springs and #4 (17mm) spring pads - all coming from Performance Products - as an "FYI" their #4 pads were under specials, or clearance, or something... pretty good price on them (but they're cheap regardless). The only thing is that their website navigation is messed up, b/c they have the spring pads under a different category than suspension - but they have all four types, and the mm's looked right, so I'm pretty sure I'm getting the right parts.
