That's crazy! Buy the part; should cost you no more than $70 at most. It's an easy DIY, but just beware that a lot of fuel comes out when you remove the old filter.

I buy the parts and I have a local mechanic do all the work and I stand next to him with MBworld pictures and threads!!
Shoot me an email. I'm due for my fuel filter changeout. I was going to do it myself. Maybe you guy can give us a good do two the same day deal. I'm a short drive up the 15 or 71 away from you.
The factory recommends 60K. Some guys are changing them out every year.
I just bought my mobil1 0 - 40 and oil filter
and the fuel filter is next along with probably going back to OEM plug wires.
The shop is a very humble place, but he installed my IC pump, evosport pullies on my C32 and ASP on my E55.
let's shoot for early September? I'll PM as reminder.

TIA for the info.
When I looked it up on EPC (WIS not installed yet) all I found was that the regular external fuel filter on other 203 was not a call out for the C55 and I could not find another fuel filter.
Any help would be appreciated.
Regards,
i've been looking at parts websites online and haven't found any listed. plenty of fuel filters for the c32, but nothing for the c55. i went to a shop and they were stumped as well.
I change mine every 30,000 miles...I have seen and repaired plenty of damaged fuel rails, injectors, etc due to a bad filter...
First - Open your gas cap and then push in the flap door...
Then when you change it - do it when the fuel is as low as possible - then lift the car in the air - and then GET THE REAR AXLE ABOVE THE FRONT AXLE - this will move the fuel away from the pick up lines...Then - find the feed line (the pressurized line coming from the fuel pressure regulator)...you will want to open that after you vent the system from the feed line...
Not much gas should escape at all...
What you will want to do it disassemble the OEM clamps as easily as possible - inspecting them my dad and I discovered they just wrap over them selves and attached to pressed nipple fittings, unsnap the fitting and the clamp will come loose....no need to fight cutting through it like a crimp box type...
Then replace...
Good luck,
Jake
Oh yeah...My filter clamp bolt was rusted - so I replaced it with some stainless hardware...
- PS - Most (all) fuel pumps have a pre-filter to protect the pump in the tank...this is not the fuel line filter...I can not imagine the guys at M-B or AMG doing too much to change the routing and placment of the fuel system on the C55...But then again they did put a w209 nose on it...So I do not know about the C55...I am only posting this information to offer any help if it can help - no to confuse people...
Good luck!
Prior to chassis #740182, (build date 6/30/05) will require a 211 471 02 41 ‘mounting plate’, as well.
The C55’s fuel filter is an integral part of the fuel level sender:

Good luck!
it seems like such a bad design to have to throw out a perfectly good fuel level sensor just to change the fuel filter every 60K miles as recommended by MB.
