Hi

Local dealer telling me it could be Anti Roll bar bushes/droplinks

I took my E320 in to the Benz dealer yesterday for the exact same thing since I only had about 1700 miles left on my warranty. I got the same answer "we drove it, put it on the rack, yanked on the tie rods, etc... and they dont have any play in them. we can't recreate the problem. All seems well." It was not 1 hour later I'm driving 10 mph in the neighborhood over some rough road area and bump, clump, thump. WTF??? How could they not have heard that? Unless they were driving 40 or 50mph and then you assume its just hitting a pothole hard because I have 19" wheels with low profiles on it.

just out of interest on this, when they checked mine it was JUST the bushes that needed doing BUT MB modified the bushes so that they are all one part, moulded onto the anti roll bar - this being the case I got a complete new anti roll bar (which included moulded bushes) - did they replace the whole bar for you?

Everytime I go over speed bumps or slightly larger bumps, I get skiwshy sound in both of my front tires. Is this the same issue? I don't know if I need to change the bushings or the shocks all together. My car is lowered and I'm out of warranty, so I can't just bring it in for the techs to find out. Any clues or recommendations?

my car has a knocking sound from the rear drivers wheel(i even took a video/sound clip on youtube!)

my dealers has changed.... front endlinks, sway bars+bushings, lower control arms, rear sway bar. it still has a slight knock. from the back. they told me it was the "aftermarket exhaust" hitting the top. I took a look at it, i dont think it was that!

very common problem.

I had them replaced under warranty,

but the problem returned.

Its an easy fix that I'll do before I sell the car.

- drop links on sway bar (they stick and then jump)
- thrust arm bushes
- wheel bearings
- sway bar bushes.

Check your rose joint for wear. With the car on a hoist the rear wheel would have a movement in the camber direction.

I had mine lubricated with teflon, the bolts tightened and more grease added to the bushes and found that all the noises vanished.
