C32 vs C55 Transmission

As you all have seen, the C32’s transmission has somewhat of a poor reputation of failing due to fluid contamination. As some have had the horror of dealing with a failed transmission and going through the challenge of having their warranty company pay for a transmission replacement, this all sounds like a horrible experience and has me somewhat worried. Does the C55 transmission run the same risk as the C32? If so, what measures should be taken to avoid contamination. Should the trans fluid be routinely checked for contamination?

No, the C55 does not have that risk of contamination.

Not even all C32 had that risk. I think it was only 2002 and early 2003 models.

Not true. It spanned all years. I have a 2004 and had the contamination issue.

The transmissions weren't the problem, it was the radiator that was the cause of the fault.

The C/CLK 55 transmissions have proven to be pretty much bulletproof! So don´t worry

the valeo rad in the 2002s were the prob. tons of info on this site search terms "valeo" and "glycol"

c32/c55 both use same tranny...actually it's the same as in the w211 e55. a very robust unit rated to handle 700+ ft lbs of torque.

i've done 70,000 miles plus 19 track days no probs. i changed my rad this yr.
