I just got a C55 (here's the thread) and was wondering how to launch it properly? I have a V-TECH SS and it has been pretty accurate on my last car so I tried it tonight on the new C55. It's an '06 with 7,200 miles on it and K&N filters. That's all right now. I tried two runs before I had to duck-and-cover. First was in M mode and I slammed it against the rev limiter so I gave up. Then I did a 2.2 60' and a 4.9 second 0 to 60 by launching softly with ESP on in S mode and slowly digging in keeping some mild spin for the first 20' or so. It seems so traction limited compared to my old car so I don't know if it can do a 2.0 or even a 1.9 60'. If I can do that it should show a 4.7 or a 4.6 0 to 60 time. What's the magic launch technique?
For me it usually S mode, ESP off, starting in 1st, brake torque to about 2K and work your foot till you get the magic number.

Ample tire spin is the way? Wouldn't ESP off and a 2K powerbrake induce a massive, tire smoking, Starsky-and-Hutch like burnout with some nice sideways action? It seems like I have to peddle it out of the hole just off idle to keep it hooked up. Maybe a set of those ultra sticky Toyo Proxes RA1 comp tires would hook it up?Originally Posted by 1Lop2K5C

I have 19s with 265s, so at about 2K rpm I wouldnt call it a massive tire smoking.Originally Posted by Drop-a-Daimler
