c55 crank pulley

Hello everyone, just wanted to say that i just installed the ams pulley and it was pretty good. The first thing was that when i saw the oem pulley it is falling apart. Second the top plastic oem pulley spit out the grease from the bearing and was making the belt get worn form the inside. The car has 15000 miles and these two parts where already worn just a heads up for everyone. For the new crank pulley do not know if there is more hp but the torque is definetly there. From bottom end its really strong all the way threw. If anyone was skeptical about the ams pulley i would worry more about the oem pulley. I feel the engine smooth and with no vibrations.

Thanks for the feedback. I will also report my experience when I get my car back this week.

Install

How easy was the install? Did you do it yourself?

The worst part is taking out the crank bolt. It really took a big breaker bar with a 3foot pipe. I did it myself and all from the top without having to raise the car. I had the pulley holder that I got from ebay. Someone here in the forum put the info about it. The price is about 40$

Hey c55asleep:

That someone was me, they don't have anymore listed for sale. However You can contact them on ebay at "koniktoolcom" and they have more in stock. I did, after 1fastC32 bought it from underneath me, that son of a b---h. Just kidding fast

See yeah

ya it can be done in your drive way as long as you have a massive breaker bar, 6footer will usually do the job. the install is technically bolt on (literally, just one bolt). Also make sure you torque to 147 ft lbs.

Ya honestly I was shocked at what shape my stock pulley was in, the rubber ring was falling apart, not suprised though there were a few recalls on the early models before 2002.

Thx for the review
