Geez. Someone who charges $1,200 for a reflash may BE a tranny jerk!

Yeah, I'm not happy about the price, but it will be worth it in the long run. Like jgsx, this will fix a big issue I've been having. The car never knows the proper gear to be in and I either give it too much throttle, or not enough.

I would have done this 2 years ago if I would have known.

If MB was smart, THEY would develop these customized flashes and sell them for $500 a shot. Pure profit.

Ok here is my question....based on modding only as far as pulleys and tune is this really worth it especially if you really don't drive the car like you stole it or planning to upgrade the car in a year or two?

well, this question is coming from a track junkie now... didn't just go to the track like 3 weeks ago and flog your car pretty severly and aren't you going to the track again tomorrow?

i am just messing with you victor...

i definitely think this is worth it, it will unlock some missing power from the C32 and help the car to shift faster... this is what i have been wanting to have done for the 2 years that i have owned the car...

This has the potential to be the best C32 mod. My current #1 on the must have is a sprintbooster. This would fix that issue. The only reason I have a sprintbooster is to force the TCU to f'in downshift when I floor it. It is far from perfect. With the TCU flash, I should be able to ditch the sprintbooster and actually have the transmission shift the way it should have in the first place.

I dont know maybe at a much lower price I can get myself to think about it I still have a tune todo and I might upgrade to an E55 in the summer so its not a good financial thing to do right now

Given the engineering and testing cost, and the limited number of buyers, the price is not that surpising.

What price would make it worth it and a done deal for you?

I was hoping this price would include the TCU as well. For those of us with warranty, swapping TCU when required is important.

Why would you want an extra TCU? To avoid the downtime while upgrading? The dealer surely isn't going to be checking the s/w in there.

Well, the TCU is only like $300. So, considering the retail is $1595 and the actual price is less, you can buy the TCU and it would be like paying retail.

To answer this (and do a cost benefit analysis) I would like to hear a testimonial. Anybody out there done this mod yet?

Also, how much down time is there?

In the Audi/VW market, flash upgrades are in the $400-$500 range. Of course, there are a lot more customers for it. I would also need a lot more detail on what the flash does, and maybe some real-life testimonials. I bought an ECU and TCU upgrade for my A6 and the tuner (GIAC) had plenty of data to rely on. And the Audi community offered a lot of BTDT.

C32 TCU reset or flash

Hi, so I have a 2002 c32, I just replaced the conductor plate on my transmission and of course oil and filter. I have reset the TCU but seems like it needs constant resetting. Often it goes into a mode where my gear indicator light would either not show up on gear selected like P or D or any of them and of course when this happens it seems to be on limp mode and when in drive or any gear it only drives I think on 2nd gear and I cant shift it back past N unless I turn the key to accessory or off. I'm able to reset using the 2 min pedal down key on and 2 minute while key is in off before lifting off gas. This works most of the time but only works either for a day or at that time sometime for a couple weeks..real sporatic but now I almost have to reset everytime I wanna drive it. I'm thinking its the TCU. Check for oil contamination to TCU but don't see any because its all the way in the passenger foot panel so don't know how it would reach that unless I'm not looking at the TCU. I've also replaced the wire connector when I replaced the conductor plate. SO ANY SUGGESTION OR IF YOU KNOW WHO CAN REPROGRAM MY TCU that would be great.
