Aftermarket warranty for my 02 c32

I just purchased an 02 c32 with 56k on it. I purchased the car privatly, so no warranty was included. Does anyone know of a good company that has no problems working with the dealer when problems occur? I have heard some horror stories about these aftermarket warranty companies and i do not want to add to the stories. Any recommendations? I would like a 2 year warranty, anyone have any good companies to use?

Thanks for the help.

I hate to be the first one to say it but, "Search the forum first!"

Seriously, this topic has been covered in at least 4 other threads. There is no need to start a new one now.

Try Mercury seems like folks here have had good luck. Like mentioned earlier there are a ton of posts on this subject read through then you can get a good idea who people have had lgood uck with or bad. From what i have read Mercury seems good.

IMO warranty is a must if you are not handy with wrench

$5,000 for 4 years 100,000 is not bad (considering they want what? $3,500 for a 3 year warranty when you buy the car CPO). I was 'quoted' by MB Riverside a half year ago a ridiculous $12,000 for the same 4/100,000 when I looked at extending the warranty. Where you located? CA is a different story on aftermarket warranties.

Search this forum for the known kinks in this car and if you have symptoms it may be money well spent to foot the bill for the warranty.

This forum provides great information. I would not have noticed many of the issues had it not been for this forum. I had the dealer replace a ton of stuff based on researching this place. Grab a beer and take a few hours to browse through it -- you may find some interesting stuff.....

another approach to take would be to go where you plan on having your car serviced. Ask the service advisor who they like to do business with and who they don't.

I always advise people to do that. Take it to your Service Advisor and ask them which company they do business with mostly without having any "problems". Also ask him/her, how long they've been dealing with that company. If less than 3 years, then ask what was other companies they've dealth with in the past.
If you contact the warranty company directly, you may be able to get the same exact warranty for cheaper, as the dealer always adds mark up.

Mercury is a good company. Many members on this board have them and has had great success with them across the nation. However, they continue to boost up their prices every year, which makes it 4 years in a row now.

Whatever you do, make sure you are covered under some kind of warranty, as owning a Mercedes (let alone an AMG) without warranty can be very costly

Good Luck.........

I just called Mercury and they transfered me to First National that sells Mercury warranty. They said the only thing they have to offer for my car is a limited engine/power train warranty. I told them I still have 1.5 on the MB ext warranty and just want to add another year.

Yeah, I'm afraid I'm going to have a hard time finding someone to warranty my car also. It's 02 with 64,000 miles and I have a current warranty to 72,000 miles. Are there places that will warranty a car from 72,000-100,000 or higher?

I've only owned the car for 2 months and I have had approx. $8,000 in repairs done. All covered by warranty. The thought of not having a warranty in place scares me to death.

Is there anything that went wrong with your C32 that wouldn't go wrong with say a C320? I'm trying to see why aftermarket warranty companies wont touch the C32, but offer policies for the C320? How many problems would just be isolated to a c32. Transmission maybe?

The AMG engines (although much tougher) are stressed a lot more than the regular Mercedes engine. AMG super tunes the engine to squeeze a lot of hp out of it. And since the car falls under the "high performance" category (and specifically carries the AMG badge), most companies won't touch it unless it is fairly low miles. They know the parts are a lot more expensive, and maintenance costs are much higher, so they back out.

However, there are still some companies out there that will warranty these engines for up to 100,000 miles (and maybe even 120,000).

Are you planning on modding? I'd hate for you to waste $$ on an aftermarket warranty.

So do you know of any specific companies that might cover me from 72k-100k?

I forgot the name of the company I had (I think it was Superior Coverage Auto or something like that). They covered my S-Class up to 120,000 miles and paid for almost $10k in repair bills over the course of 3 years I owned my car. They may have been bought out though by a different company because I can't find anything on them
Regardless, I still think the best way to get appropriate coverage is to go to the dealership that you take your car too regularly, and ask them which warranty company they sell and deal with on regular basis.
