Question 1st dealer visit...

I will be taking my car in for it's first dealer visit. Service manager has told me they will correct any settings I don't like since it's my first time in. I will be having them remove the "NO PHONE" from my screen. I found earlier threads descibing this process. Now my question. If I have dealer set National Version of ATA function to "Neatherlands" I know I will get the Door lock chirp. Is this just a faint quick horn beep, or something else? And what functions will I lose if I go to the Neatherlands setting? Is the Beep/Chirp a nice sound? I really do not want to make this change if all I'm going to hear are annoyingly loud horn sounds.Any help is appreciated.

The beep is not a horn beep. It's a rather generic medium sound level beep that goes in cadence with your current light flashes when you lock or unlock the car. If it's possible for you to be there when the tech has your car hooked up to the laptop for the STAR diagnostic system he can choose the setting and if you don't like it he can switch it right back.

You do lose the panic button feature on your key with the Netherlands setting.

I also had the tech set my fuel mapping from base to 93 as I have the availability of good gas in my location. Seat of the pants felt like the throttle response was a little crisper possibly from more spark advance. I haven't had any ill effects from the change.

it'll probably sound like BMW's alarm chirp (not the old annoying one that goes french "quoi quoi" something like that).
