Hood Emblem Question

I like this emblem but not for $100 bucks. It looks like our stock tri-star base with a small machined billet stuck in it. What do you guys think of it?

I see you can get the grill and emblem for $150 as a package deal. I'm considering doing that- on ebay.

1. Not sure about the price and availibility for this one, but DFWdudedid a great job making the White badge.

2. I couldnt find the one i bought on Ebay anymore, but heres a picture of how it looks, and it only costed me 40 dollar. I wouldnt say they're the best, but for 40 they're doing a great job matching my car.

If you're going to pay $100 might as well double it and buy this one from Mario.

I say just get a cheaper AMG flat hood emblem which at times comes with AMG air valve stems free and call it a day for a quarter of the price.

The extra money for Marios badge is well worth it. A car as nice as a C55 deserves a little better than some tacky ebay badge.

Wow.. that's classy. If I had an AMG that would be on my hood in a heartbeat. Very nice. I'll have to upgrade to a 55 later this year.

Hey yes its nicer but honestly who is looking at it for more then a glance? People are admiring the car not the emblem spend as u wish but with $200 I prefer to buy filters or plug/wires or other things that can improve the cars MPG and efficiency as to appose having someone stare at my hood for a moment

Well the OP posted about a hood emblem not about plug wires and filters. I was conveying my feelings about the subject at hand. Using your logic why spend thousands on wheels and tires when people will only be looking at it for glance?

How can you compare rims to A FLAT HOOD EMBLEM? This thread asked opinions and I gave it and you attack mine. There is no way the flat hood emblem will be NOTICED like rims. People who have both will show a picture of the rims INSTEAD OF THE OVER PRICED EMBLEM. Go ahead and make further attacks on my opinion.

(edited 12:29am on 1/20/08) Everyone is entitled to there opinions as are you or me but ultimately it will be his choice to decide which route to go. There are people who feel they want everything they buy to be top quality but I prefer what works. I like both his original link as well as the other one done by Mario. I so far with under $30 have a flat hood emblem thats taken 25-30 washes and this -4 degree weather and still looks new. It may be plain compared to the other two but matches well with the CF and black on car. No emblem is so nice that the rest of the car becomes dull to look at. People who buy an expensive flat hood emblem and nice not so cheap rims will always get way more attention from the rims even if he spends little for cheap replicas rims. As for the filters and stuff well I said thats where I prefer to spend $200 at so where you were going with your comment on this.

Mario's badge is beautiful and I still want one. I went with the white star and have been happy with it. My car is taking a beating (all seasons) so I need a bullet proof badge that can withstand a car wash.

I have sent my car through the car wash plenty of times the badge still looks brand new.

I love Mario's and do not regret buying it considering the cost. Personally I do not care for the White Star badge that a lot of people have but then again I'm weird

My dad's MB has the hood ornament, my mom's MB had the hood ornament, I'm keeping mine because I think it is classic. My mom totaled her car last Monday when someone pulled in front of her head on at 45 mph (they were charged). My mom is 63, has 2 titanium rods in her back, thank god and MB she walked away with only a busted lip from the air bag. Not to hijack the thread but I will start a new thread when I get pictures (her bumper was crushed up into the firewall).

I say go to the dealer, buy the 204 sport badge for 20 bucks, it looks very tasteful, and fits perfect.
