New Diamond Black C55
Well, almost new! I traded in my 2002 C32 for a 2006 diamond black (looks dark blue) C55 with only 8,300kms or 5157miles. I had been hoping to get into a C63 but with the warranty running out on my C32 and CND pricing not even released on the C63 the C55 seemed like a logical choice for now. My C32 was a great car (When it wasn’t in the shop) but the C55 is definitely a step up in my opinion. The power and sound of the V8 is simply amazing and it’s a tad quicker than my pullied C32. I also love the updated interior. Hopefully it will be a little less problem prone than my C32 was…..

Congratulations on your new ride! Yes, the C55's longer front end, interior styling, 18" wheels and the NA V8 make it truly unique. I'm not a big fan of the new C class styling at all which IMO make the 05-06 models very special. Enjoy it.

Makes me wish I bought the C55 now. I did not realize the C55 was a bit quicker than a pulleyed C32. I would of loved the 18" wheels, quad exhaust and especially the roar of the V8.
Any pics?

I will post pics soon (I want to clean it up a bit). Don't worry, once you add pulleys and a properly done ECU tune or headers a C32 should be quicker....

Ok I agree 100% that the C55 wins any C32 with its styling cues but I seriously doubt that a stock C55 is slightly faster then a pullied C32...in the many threads I read in stock versus stock the extra 12 crank hp is faster but not by much...I believe factory claims for both 0-60 is the same and quarter runs are similar also..but a just pullied C32 can run in the high 12s which I never heard a stock C55 has..but I fail to believe it is faster then a modded C32 I am willing to run against one just for comparison at our Spring or Summer private drag session just to prove this..I say maybe even a Modded for modded C32 and C55. I am not trying to start a war hear just want to see proof of this...but I will say I am jealous of the styling cues the C55 has...

A pullied C32 should be able to destroy any modded C55 excluding forced induction.
However, there is one C55 on this website that managed a 12.4

It's a twisty road coarse or track where the C55 reallly outshines the C32 because of the steering/suspension/ESP modifications the C55 got. 15 seconds faster on the Nurburgring and 2 seconds faster at Hockenheim are HUGE differences with the same driver doing the testing.

Please guys lets not take this out of context I firmly believe that a C55 will outshine slightly a C32 in a quarter track in stock versus stock only...just like the C55 has a better suspension from the factory the C32 can be beefed up to in that department...I firmly believe that a stock C55 can not best a PULLIED C32 thats all and thats only in the quarter run...stock for stock it should be a drivers race...

C32 vs C55 vs C32
Hmmmmm...where did you get that info? Most instrumented car magazine tests show the opposite of what you're saying, in that the C55 is 0.1-0.2 seconds FASTER than the C32 in the quarter mile, with a slightly faster trap speed too. But I do agree that it's a driver's race in a straight line because they are very close.

"At the track, the C55 turned in slightly slower times than the C32 we tested a couple years ago. The raw numbers came in at 5.6 seconds for the 0-60 dash and 13.95 for the quarter."

On a road course, there is definately no comparison, the C55 definately kills the C32, but in the 1/4 mile, I believe both cars are about the same (it's basically a driver's race). A modded C32, however, is a different story. A modded C32 should easily beat a stock C55.

Well, to keep things in proper context, let's review a little more of the article.
"At the track, the C55 turned in slightly slower times than the C32 we tested a couple years ago. The raw numbers came in at 5.6 seconds for the 0-60 dash and 13.95 for the quarter. Still quick, but one would rightfully expect that the V8 would be a few tenths quicker, not slower. As we have stated before, there are many variables that come into play when testing a car for acceleration — the track surface, weather conditions (cool air is better than warm) and driver differences. Putting all that power to the ground is tricky, as it's so easy (with the traction control switched off) to make the rear Pirellis go up in smoke. If we chose to take say, eight runs, we're sure that the times would have come down, but we feel that three runs are easier on the car and better represent "real world" numbers. But let's not split hairs; this is one fast car any way you look at it."
My bet would be they did their testing in completely different atmospheric conditions. The C55 is advertised at 13.2 @ 107.3 in the 1/4 mile.
Unfortunately they did not do a true "apples to apples" comparison. However, I must say whoever drove the car to a 13.95 must've either only ran it at 1/2 throttle, or they were dragging a boat anchor behind them. There's really no excuse for a .75 difference in the two ET's, even if the outside temp was considerably higher. Typical variance between winter and summer runs will range between .20 to .40, but certainly not .75.
Here's the Motor Trend article on the C55.

Oh, and before I forget --- CONGRATS on your new purchase! You won't be disappointed! I just finished my first month of ownership of my C55 (same color as yours), and I've loved every minute of it! I consider myself an AMG lifer now!

Thanks everyone for the congrats. As far as the ease of modding the C55 vs the C32 - believe me, after looking at prices for V8 headers, the difference is becoming painfully obvious!
