'02 C230 Coupe, '87 EVO II Turbo
Just wanted to throw another idea out there. I am currently working on an LSD for my turbo 16V. I'm CNC machining a spring loaded block that puts pressure on the spider gears in the differential and improves the lock to 60-80%. The challenge with Mercedes diffs is that there are spring clips that hold the axle flanges in place and they are in the way of this spring loaded block. However, at least on the 16V, you can leave them out as the axles do no travel far enough for the shoulder on the axle flanges to move past the seals and let fluid leak out.
It looks like this Kleeman unit:

A guy on another forum successfully used one like this on his SLK32, but it uses a different diff than the C32.
I don't have access to a C32 (though I'm considering upgrading from our coupe
), but if someone is willing to be the guinea pig, I'm sure we could develop a spring loaded block that will work. Cost would be less than $400.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again: the Quaife LSD was the single best mod I ever did, period. Yes, that includes pulleys + chip. Even an otherwise stock C32 needs one. It was without a doubt worth the money, and I paid full price ($1750 + installation)!
It still burns me up that MB didn't put one on the car from the factory. WTF were they thinking?

So what are we doing?
Are we going to say forget it...or we going to try something else?
Who wants to rip their pumpkin off the car and send it to me?

The Kleeman LSD can not be compared to the Quafie unit. The Quafie is far and away the best unit on the market.
Yes it is expensive but this is a case where you are getting what you pay for.
The Quafie comes with a lifetime warranty. Want to race your car? No big deal the warranty is still lifetime.

C32s came with two different housings and on top of that, one of them (my situation) came in two variations (with flange and with out). This is exactly why I will not buy a C63 until 2010-2011.
