No way... low 4s and low-mid 12s, probably.

C32-4me, welcome!! I hope you find the forums as enjoyable and informative as I do.

Agree w/ the post about changing your plugs - IK16s are too hot of a plug for your modded C32. IK20s are the stock plug temp, IIRC, so switching to IK22s (1 heat-range colder) would probably be wise.

You're right on the money that a larger/more efficient HE and phenolic spacers would be appropriate, given all of the other mods currently in place. Talk to Jerry @ LET about the ZEX kit, since he's the only C32 I'm aware of with that kit - FWIW, I think he only uses it at the strip, though you could certainly use it on the street if desired.

Have a good one; enjoy your new ride!

I guess I could put real big tires on the drivers side and bolt a big wing to the roof and see what it could do?

Finding a safe stretch of nice blacktop out in the county should not be too hard, but I need to get one of those little computer "g-meters" that estimate 1/4 mile times and speeds.

The only thing I can compare to from my recent experience is a 2007 Cadillac Escalade I test drove with 405hp. It launched like a pissed off Tyrannosaurus Rex on crack.

I have not owned any "sports cars" except my '86 944 years ago. It "feels" like the C32 would put the Escalade to shame, and I am positive the 944 would have felt like paint drying compared to the 32.
Thank you C32-4me,

I know it will be super fast for that many hp on such light thing I was just wondering how actually fast it is

Congratulation again!

It's go-fast parts are unchanged since I sold the car, so I can speak to this. C32-4ME's car/my former ride is a standard, Evosport Stage II with Powerchip. That means it has a cookie-cutter (but safe!) 93-octane tune and was not dyno-tuned by someone like Renntech or Kleemann. Everything I did was bolt-on, because I wanted reliable power. The Quaife really helps with launches and especially acceleration out of tight turns. I never tracked it, but have a good deal of experience both with this car and other performance cars over the years. That said, I'd say that a fair estimate is mid-high 4's 0-60, mid-high 12's in the 1/4 mile @ around 115-118mph, and an honest-to-goodness top speed around 186mph. I never saw over 165 in it because I did not have access to a closed-course and safety is an issue!

C32-4ME, regarding the plugs: I chose the IK16 plugs at the recommendation of Evosport for Stage II. People have gone round and round on this, and I would generally tend to agree that the IK22s are better, but I could not get Evosport to commit to the colder plug and I didn't want to take chances with something as important as ignition, even though running a colder plug would logically tend to reduce risk of detonation.

So, next mods? Hmmm...
I doubt that you'll get much from SL-55 airboxes, and installing them will mean modification of the engine cover. Phenolic spacers may provide some intake temp improvement, but I'd bet that is a marginal help too. Cooling is your biggest concern at this point - not for peak/best condition performance, but to get stable, repeatable numbers that don't fluctuate due to heat soak. Tom (HAHA BYE) had a well-publicized tangle with a Dodge Magnum driving guy who came trolling here after with video of their runs - STF to find it. I'm convinced that heat played a major role in his losses, since he had runs a bit earlier and let the car sit off+hot in a parking lot. I'd say get working on installing an upgraded heat exchanger. Also, don't forget that your car is equipped now for cheap, fast DIY replacement of the intercooler pump if/when it fails. Go here for more (BTW, these pictures are of YOUR CAR and the pump that is in it :

https://mbworld.org/forums/showpost....&postcount=168

Also, as soon as warm weather hits, buy a set of Michelin Pilot Sport PS2 tires ASAP. I had them on it before, and they were just perfect for that car. You can go larger than stock for more tire (you need traction, I know)! I also wanted to get a set of back rims and run them on the front (de-stagger) as other owners have done here, but never got around to it because what I really was saving for was Renntech Monolites

Suspension is next, if you care about handling. I wanted to do Bilstein PSS9 Coilovers, but never got around to it. Your Renntech springs probably still have less than 10k or so miles on them because I bought them new - you can sell them used to recoup some cost, and someone here will pick them up fast.

Oh, and one last thing, C32-4ME: You might do well to learn everything you can about your car's history by poking through my former posts here. I was an active member here during the whole time that I took the car from stock to pretty much how you are driving it now. Just click on my username, and select "Find more posts by...". You might want to make some popcorn first - 500+ posts will take a while to go through!

The Canadian border is about 30 minutes away. Do you ever make it up this end of I-5?

It is kind of boring up here, but lots of open roads in the "country side".

It would be fun to see how many board members, C32, and anything AMG / Mercedes enthusiast we could round up and go on some road trips this summer!!??

My wife and I participate in a little antique truck club for weekend gettogethers and road trips. It is slow driving in a stock 1954 Chevy Pickup, but fun

Piloting an AMG (or any Mercedes) would make things much more interesting and comfortable.

Whistler Mountain in Canada is a fun drive, Eastern Washington has some cool back roads, Long Beach...lots of possiblilities. I am an old fart though
(41)...probably too boring for you guys.

I don't know about either one...too old or fast

I have not had a chance to do any kind of half "formal" race with anybody. I am kind of a closet hp/PF addict if you will. Married with children can make one kind of boring to the young and single!!!

Heck...I don't know anything about the "street scene". I am so behind the times I just figured out what the three horn honk thing is I have watched people do for a year or so.

For now I get more fun out of driving pretty conservative on public roads, letting it rip when nobody else is around. I have only really screwed around with one or two pimped out Honda's.

It was very funny, the expressions on their faces...I actually saw the "trunk mounted wing" partially fall off of Civic trying to keep up with the 32 on I-5.

Typical high-beam job on me in the fast lane, the one blink go around in the slow lane (but they were blocked in by a slower car), tucked back in behind me about 2 feet from my bumper...so I did the full grandpa signal and s-l-o-w-l-y moved to the right - and then paced him side by side up to about 80 mph.

I gave them a goofy little "bye bye" wave and tapped it up to just over 130 real quick, and then coasted back down to legal. They caught up about a mile or two later and passed by again making some kind of monkey gang signs pounding the dashboard, jumping up and down in their seats, and spinning their hats around their heads??? Chimpanzee dance?

Funniest thing is that they did not even notice that the "batwing" had came half unglued or something...and was flapping wildly like a kite in a storm on their trunk LOL

I will save my first couple "sleeper dust offs" for another thread if anybody cares to read about them. The stories are probably nothing new to you AMG guys...and mild by comparison.

As for the car. Mine is Brilliant silver too, black/blue leather. Your car looks way sweet compared to mine! Very classy.

Mine is stock except for clear side markers, and I finally put the flat hood emblem and "SL" grill on.

I am trying to keep it as low key as possible, I was hesitant to even do that - but I just thought it looked so much better.

I am installing some ECM (electronic counter measures) gear though :
  • Bearcat BC-15 Trunktracker III Scanner w/remote head unit & GPS integration.

This scanner alerts me to State Patrol/Air to Car/Police/Sheriff activity (radio TX) with an audible tone if the transmitting unit is within a 3 mile radius. I have already been alerted to a multi unit laser trap over 4 miles away- just heard the alert tone, screen says "Washington State Patrol", and listened to them calling off the car descriptions, speeds, and mile markers. I also programed it to pick up WSP car to car, Statewide dispatch, 40 CB chan., and hand held FRS & GMRS radios.

Just the other day I heard a trucker complaining about cars "going too fast and racing" (and the alert tone that the TX was within 3 mile minimum radius) and heard them call off the plates and call 911 on the cell!!! I came up and passed the trucks a few minutes later - 70mph right on the dot too!

Heard them comment about the nice silver "Kraut-bucket"
  • Valentine 1 Radar Detector
  • Laser Interceptor 4 head system (front & rear)
  • Active Radar Detector Jammer (this thing is too much fun)

Here are the only pics I have right now.
1. Picture HAHA BYE sent me
2. My wife & C32 the day it was delivered from the East Cost
3. New grill & flat badge

Wow, thats a lot of cool stuff. I just read that long article in eurotuner about the guy who set the record from NYC to LA averaging something like 110 mph all the way there in about 31 hours. He had lotsa cool gear like you have. You are obviously ready to do plenty of speeding :x

Get at me if you bring the car down to the Seattle area.

Enjoy the drive!
