Well... presumably, a middle idler pulley (one w/ yellow bearing) that's a little larger will give slightly more belt-wrap around the S/C pulley. Depending on material chosen, it possibly could also be made lighter - both of those things should aid in quicker responsiveness (i.e. less slip and less inertia).

If you made the top ribbed idler slightly smaller, you could make the middle idler larger still, and pick up even more belt-wrap.

Newzchspy - good question... I used to think I understood the way mechanically driven (i.e. S/C'ed) forced-induction cars made boost, but with this thread, the more I learn, the less I know... I get how a smaller S/C pulley raises boost, just like I get how a larger crank pulley raises boost. How a different idler or a third intake panel raise the boost psi on our cars... well, I'm at a loss on that one, but the test results are what they are. Someone smarter than I will have to chime in on this...

Wow! 21lbs boost
Brandon I hope you are testing it on a C32 with a 178mm in it.

Installed mine tonight, took about 15 minutes or so using a strap wrench and I did not need to take off the other pulley.

I let it idle about 5 minutes in the driveway and the belt look fine and then I drove it about 5 miles and the belt still looks fine so I am good to go.

Just installed my intake mod. It's fantastic! I took it for a test drive around my apartment and got next to a Lancer Evolution that couldn't take his eyes off me. When we got to the onramp I just blasted the throttle. It sounded like something only Lucifer could of conjured up.

hey guys i also got my intake. i installed it as soon as i got out of work. install was really easy. after seeind the vid of the intake on and hearing the supercharger, i knew i had to get this. but after getting it on i'm kinda dissapointed, my new exhaust i installed last week drowns the sound of the intake. i can't even hear the supercharger, all i hear is my exhaust. kinda sucks.

Trust me, most of us would rather have your "problem".

If 178mm + sc pulley = 21psi, theoritically 185mm +sc pulley should make around 25psi... wow

I think 21lbs of boost is close to S/C max so ideally the 25lbs boost is not a good route...hey but what do I know

+1. We need someone to confirm this ASAP. What is the maximum boost that our s/c can safely handle.

Also recieved my intake

I really like the sound and the throttle response is far better. Now I just need to take care of that squeeling noise I have had for a few weeks around the intake.

Hmm couldn't find anything about maximum boost. He stated max rpm, but not boost.

Eurocharged Performance ML63 and TT lambo
I would agree...thought it was also a problem with the MAP and throwing CEL's after more boost then that...

If 22lbs boost is max then 21lbs boost from 178mm pulley with S/C pulley is gonna cut it close...I wonder if it can be done safely without throwing CELs and stuff?

22 psi AMG-Jerry talked about was his TT kit. Not s/c.
I couldn't find where this supposedly "22 psi" max s/c boost came from.

You guys are all worried about maximum SC speed when in reality you guys should be wondering if the bottom end of the car is going to withstand such high level of boost. Remember these aren't Honda Civic's. M112k engine go for $7k+. I sure as hell won't risk it.

OK let me quote this post from this thread:
https://mbworld.org/forums/showpost....&postcount=125
It's a translation from a tuner in Taiwan.

Take C32AMG as an example, the original C32 supercharger pulley measures 74mm, crank pulley, 150mm. You may reduce the supercharger pulley to 72mm, with a crank pulley of 170mm-182mm to get more power. With the installation of a Schrick 272 duration cams and a 182mm pulley, the boost can reach 1.7-1.8 bar (original 1.1-1.2bar). this mod can bring the power of the C32 from 354hp to 450hp...
Are they saying that 1.7-1.8 bar is still tolerable? Because 1.7 bar = 24.66 psi.

Can you post a clip. The original clip sounded more like something Electrolux could of conjured up.

I spoke too soon I went out to the mail box and my intake was there. Easy install but I did break the plastic clip on the splitter.
