The SLK55 is 163lbs lighter..

Spare, jack, etc =50lbs
Remove resonator and replace with straight/X-pipe =10lbs
Replace stock battery with light weight battery like an Optima =20lbs or more??
light weight rotors??
Rims??
ETC....[/QUOTE]

Het there wawy:

Your right that less weight does make a faster car, BUT AT WHAT COST

I'm sorry but I like my heated articualted seats, radio, carpet, etc, etc.

Yes the jack, resonator, etc can and should be removed for racing, but the reality is, you really WON'T see the difference. A 100lbs, equals .1 seconds. Track conditions alone are worth well over .1 seconds. Not to mention temperatur, tire compound, fuel, etc, etc.
To get any real improvement, you still have to gut the car and loose ALL of its appeal, atleast in my eyes

I refer you to my post above. Do you really want to have a stripped out AMG that is worthless to ANYONE but you? Not to mention your wife/girlfriend/friends look on their faces when they see what you did to that poor car

Oh well to each his own, see yeah

No, I agree with you. There's a point I personally won't go beyond (IE sound/heat insulation, stereo, seats etc).

it all depends on how comfortable you want to be and how much you want to spend/modify the car. keep track of the weight you lose and where you have lost it from. actually weigh what you take out, and you'll see a lot of the estimates of what things weigh is very off.

Sorry wawy, me bad

I have to admit, I looked right by your post, SORRY.
I agree about the point of no return, or go past. As I DO and will continue to road race my FULLY equiped C. I really don't/can't understand why anyone would won't to strip out such a FINE car. In my teen's I might have done it but then again that is in my youth and I'll leave that one alone

Again, me bad, see yeah

i agree with MRAMG1 again...LOL

for all the lightweight stuff I thrown on the car (brembo gt, bbs re, optima battery, no spare...well 02 32 never had a spare) I was aiming at handling instead of making the car "faster".

Which optima model(s) are lightweight? i've been planning on a deka for the spring after the cold nights end, circa 15-16lbs, didn't notice any lightweight optimas?

Does anyone know what it actually weighs? I've seen estimates on the weight from 31-38, none of which are actually light??
