Sleeper or Poser?
I was planning on removing the C55 and AMG badges to give it that sleeper look but thought it might be more effective if I replaced it with C230. I want to sneak up on some M3, RS4s, CTS-V, Stangs and possibly Vettes. It would also be safer for my car and keep curious people away while I'm parked.
Is there such a thing as being a reverse Poser? Should I do it?

RENNtech C32 AMG
well, if you plan on "sneaking up" on those other drivers, I don't think the C230 badge on the back of the car is going to be as affective as you like. Now if somebody were to sneak up on you, that would be a different story. I say either leave it with nothing, or just keep the AMG.

half of these guys wont even give you a race as its not worth it if it looks like a c230. then the other half has never heard of AMG. I would stick with the stock badges. hell they might not be able to read them anyway as your S/C 55 will walk away from them faster then they can read what beat them.

C32 ///AMG
My vote is the same. Either take it all off or leave the stock badges on.
Seriously, could you bring yourself to put a C230 on your car? (Not knocking the C230 guys but, well you know.)

Mine is debadged except for the "AMG" badge on the trunk. At first I thought about getting the C32 badge and the V6 kompressor badges for the sides, but it actually looks good with just the one badge on the back.

2005 C55 AMG
Anyone with common sense will notice the quad exhaust tips, along w/ the V8 exhaust note. Why would you try to be a "sleeper" anyway. I love my C55, but let's be real, it's still only a mid to low 13-sec car, so you're not really going to be a major threat to anyone w/ much of a "hot rod" and a heavy foot.
Think of it this way. Anyone wanting to race is likely going to try you regardless of the badging on the car. When I used to go out on the street w/ my Grand National I would have idiots in 6 cylinder Mustangs challenge me. When I would go out in my stroked 383 LS1 I would commonly get into runs w/ anyone who thought they carried any kind of punch under the hood. The point is simply if you want to race someone --- taunt them a little bit and they'll usually take the bait. Most people do not know what a C55 is to begin with, as they were only made for two years and in very small production quantities.
Don't try to play goofy street racing tactics with your high-end AMG. Do you want the general public to think you're driving around in the "cheap C" car just for the sake of maybe catching an occasional race? Good gosh, back in the day we used to do really silly stuff to try and lure people into running, but those days are long gone. If you want to occasionally grab a run on the street you just have to hunt down the rare takers. If you feel the need to be "stealth", then go all out and take the time to hook up a 100-shot of nitrous and really surprise some unsuspecting prey. Otherwise, leave the badges in place and "run what ya' brung...", and just enjoy the occasional kill when it comes along.
I think I'm more disappointed in myself for typing this long reply to a rather silly idea --- IMO...![crazy](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/crazy.gif)
ADENDUM --- Now, as a side note, I just took the time to go back and read your signature line, which indicates a plethora of mods including a supercharger. Therefore, I think it negates the whole question to begin with. If you have a 400+hp SC C55, then you will already be surprising the crap out of anyone wanting to run you. Think about it --- you're already packing a huge punch in a rather inconspicuous package. You should be able to completely shock plenty of people out there. Leave the badges on the car, and enjoy the laughter you'll have after sending them home weeping!

i placed the C230 badge on my friends nicely modded C32 it looked just like the new C230 it was funny when we would roll up on M3's and such and they would be like what the hell is in that C230. oh just a modded C32!! i say leave it debadged as the C55 does not really look like the C230

do it! See the look on their face when their thoughts of you being a poser come back to hunt them. "Suprise is the best army a general has".
To be honest, if I wasn't reading this post and I saw your car, I'd know it's an AMG, just something about the breed that smells

What about C180? Even less power than a C230 and a lot less common, at least state-side.

I dont know, be very careful. I rented an 08 Vette last night in Fort Meyers Fl from Hertz. Its the latest and is very very fast. My C32 won't run with it. Just driving it, I'd say a low 12, high 11 car at about 120 in the qtr (seat of pants) feel. Its bumble bee yellow and actually a nice car. It even has the special exhaust option on it from the Z06. Auto of course. They left the sticker in the car. I hear they are close to 460 HP with the exhaust and it feels like it. I've driven an 07 Z06 and this car is very close to it (Z06 was manual of course), but off the dig, this car could run with it. My C32 doesnt have the torque that this car does, nor does it handle as well.

Speaking of which. I had the ML 55 out before going on vacation. Theres a guy in Chicago who has an older model ML 320 with all AMG badging on it and even put on a fake dual exhaust. I gotta get a pict for you guys.

i have no badges on my c55, not even a flat hood emblem or a star on back. only thing that says mercedes or amg are my quad tips and stars on my centercaps.
after beating an late 90s camero that kept reving at a light, the driver ask, what did you do to that accord? thats one fast accord.
