NeedsWings Cold Air Intake on SLK32

Hi,
I got a NeedsWings CAI installed on my SLK32 this weekend. Incredible difference. Supercharger whine sounds something like a cobra, more tq through the entire band, I can hear the CAI swoosh and breathe. Ran a '04 STI yesterday, "416 whp" and it sounded mean. Ran him from 40 to 130 in mexico and he never passed me although he started pulling as that turbo really got going. Here are a few pics. Powder coated silver like the engine bay. Sorry about the dirty engine bay. A definite power increase and simply music to the ears. Looking forward to pairing this up with a custom Jerry tune. Also running a 181mm (LET)..

edit: these pictures were taken next to Rob's 12.09 sec SRT-6.

Looks good...you need to fab up some engine cover brackets.

See you in a few weeks.

Maybe you can help me with that ^^ ... I tried zip ties... but... Do you have access to tools in Columbus? Or do you bring them along? The reason why I ask is because I'd like to throw these phenolic spacers on (LET) and wasn't sure how they need to be torqued etc. What dates are you planning on being in Cbus?

Looks nice. Now you need some video and sound clips with the intake on. I'm curious how she sounds!

I have never seen an intake mod that increased HP on these cars. Believe me, I want there to be, but as a stand-alone mod, the only real tests I've seen have actually decreased HP a few ticks. Does anyone have anything counter to that information? Looking to do some things like this, and holding out for the LET intake in conjunction with other LET mods, but I just can't see these claims from the OP in light of other contradictory posts.

edit: also, where does that filter end up, in the grille or down near the road more?

Code 3 has dyno proven results for their setup and LET has a new intake with many options in the works. Look around, there have been a ton of new topics on various intake mods just recently.

Just a couple of the many out there.

hehe, it does need cleaned. The engine definitely feels like it was bottled up before as this intake really frees it up and let's it breathe. The car definitely pulls harder through the entire band, in every gear. I saw a dyno showing some serious gains on a stock car with this intake alone. The filter comes out behind the grill.

You should check out the crossfire forums. This intake was origionally designed for our cars and has shown 20-30whp on the dyno. There are several track times to back it up. I built my own 3" intake similiar in design and you can definitely notice a difference. Code3 also has dyno's showing gains from their intake as well.

20-30 whp just from the intake?! Good lawdy! Does the SRT have a different stock airbox setup than our C32s?

They’re the same. However, Rob’s NeedWings setup doesn’t fit in the W203.

Well that's no fun, guess we have to wait for the LET version.

I saw the intake manifolds on Rob's SRT-6. He said they freed up at least 30whp alone. They are working on fabbing up manifolds that are much prettier and fitting for the engine bay (recessed screws, different finish etc.) I started that SRT-6 up and it was by the meanest 32 kompressor I have ever heard or imagined hearing!!! It is a 12.09 sec car with exhaust work, their intake, ASP crank pulley, and the intake manifolds. I think that's it. No cooling mods or anything.
