a car that can't do the throttle reset.
not dropping down a gear?

if I am in slow moving traffic or cruising.. a lot of times when I get on it, it doesn't drop down a gear unless I either:

A. FLOOR IT.

or

B. Manually slap the shifter down a gear.

Is this normal? Cause I felt like til recently the car would always seek a lower gear when I put my foot into the throttle a bit. I didn't need to floor it.

It's normal for my car. Try the throttle reset. You should be able to find it pretty quickly with a search. Many people feel this helps by purging adaptive driving data and resetting to factory default. It seems like it helps a little, but quickly feels sluggish again after a day or two.

The tranny itself seems to be pretty stout, but the software sucks.

Mine gets that way when I haven't cleared the adaptions from the ECU for some time. One ECU reset and all is good again, for a while, at least.

You remember the reset, right?

Key on second position, gas pedal pushed down for 5 secs, turn off key, release gas pedal and (some say...)wait 2 minutes, go.

Try it. You will probably get a good crisp kick-down.

Thanks guys. I am in S mode. And yes, I did the reset. Sadly, no real change. As long as I am not the only one, I guess I can accept it being normal. haha Thanks for letting me know. As always, much appreciated.

I have the same problem with my 02 c32. It feels really sluggish sometimes and when I step on it about halfway, it just sounds like it is searching for a gear and not really going anywhere. And at times you do have to floor it for a kickdown. Also another complaint that I have is the gas pedal feel. Sometimes the gas pedal is very stiff and it is difficult to push it with your foot(that is when the car actually performs like it should), but other times it is soft and the car is awfully jerky. I am just trying to compare notes with you guys and see if this is normal. Do any of you have the same problem?
