MB Extended Warranty

I recently purchased a 2 year extended warranty on my new used MB-certified c55. Is it worth $3500 for an additional 2 years on top of the 1 year already given to me by MB.
Thanks!

hard to say in cold hard economic fact, but i think even if you don't use the time up, if there's a decent bit of time and miles left on the car when you sell it, it will help the sale and value considerably.

if you use the miles up and not the time, well of course it wasn't worth it

i bought up my starmark warranty so i could keep the car as long as possible while on a warranty and it easily paid for itself several times over. i don't think anyone should have an amg without a warranty.

I agree...it is a worthwhile insurance for our AMG!

I got a quote today...

I have an '05 C55, and the original 4 year / 50K miles run out in March 2009. I only have 37K on it right now... so I called up the dealership today, the first one said MB can't offer me one at all, and the second dealership I called said there is no MB extended warranty, but they could offer me a Penske Platinum Full Maintenance extended warranty, which would extend mine to a 7 year / 75K miles (i can do 75K instead of 100K because I put so few miles on mine yearly).... the retail cost? $4530. the woman was nice and said she could give me the "employee discount" of $500, bringing my quote down to $4030.

So, my fellow C55 drivers, my question is simple: do you think I should expect my routine maintenance costs for the next ~3 years / 38K miles to total more than $4030 (therein making the extended warranty worthwhile)?? Please bear in mind that I don't take my car on the track, the engine is stock, and I put maybe 8-10K miles on it a year at most.

Your advice and insight are greatly appreciated!! Thanks in advance...

Servicing for 3yrs will cost you about $2000 and the remaining $2000 for extended warranty...it isn't that bad...it is $3000 for extended warranty in Canada for 3 yrs. It is like insurance for your AMG. As everyone knows who owns an AMG, repairs for an AMG is expensive...labor is pretty standard, however, parts are expensive.

power fade is correct. The extended warranty is simply an insurance policy. Don't be afraid to shop around with different dealerships and get different quotes. Also don't be afraid to negotiate with them also. The dealer makes a ton of money selling these policies.
