The S4 is now the mid of the line up...

compared to 335, C350, G37, Acura TL-SH, CTS..

it should be around 50k..

therefore comparing it to a CTS-V, C63 and M3 is not fair.

I would rather have an S5, but you pay a bit more for it.

Its not all about HP and TQ... keep in mind this thing will have AWD and 7 fast shifting gears.

Increase boost another 5 to 7 lbs and on the street it would be hard to beat.

ON the highway.. weight and AWD will not be as good.. but you still have 2 more gears than a C32 and 1 more than a 335i.

If only they can put this engine on the S3!!! and it would be a nice competition to the 135i.

I just hope they don't put an electromagnetic clutch and by pass valve like my E55.. I would love to see more specs on the engine.

i think the car will be limited more by the amount of torque the dsg can handle then the engine.

I know thats one of the reasons they couldnt put the v10 diesel into the r8 yet, since the gearbox couldnt handle all that torque.

more good info.

http://www.edmunds.com/insideline/do...topanel..1.*#3

base price $49k.

Rearl Locking Diff option and Audis version of the "M" button.

The coupe with this engine should be even better.

Look at the weight reduction!

Couldn't they have used the Veyron gearbox in the R8 with the V10?

You're probably correct, but keep in mind that the Bugatti Veyron has a DSG transmission also and it has more torque than god.

One of the reasons why nobody to speak of tunes the Audi TT 3.2/VW R32 w/ DSG is that the DSG torque limit isn't too far north of what the OEM engine provides. There is one outfit that claims to have improved clutch packs, but I don't know if it's real or vapor-ware.

Then again, when I priced a replacement clutch pack for the American wife's 3.2 TT I was surprised to find that it wasn't a whole lot more expensive than the kit for my old M5. At that rate you could afford to blow through one or two and still be money ahead compared to one of our automatics.

two different engines and two different price categories.

Keep in mind the veyron is two v8's mounted as a w16 at $1.5mil which they lose about 3mil for everyone they make. THe r10 is a ten cyclinder diesel engine.

Plus they actually make money on the r8.

yeah but now your comparing a $1.5mil supercar to a $200k roadster.

I know thats what the vw guys say. Its the torque that limits the dsg rather then the hp.

Maybe you can upgrade the dsg components?

Yep, it's torque that breaks things. HP just gives you bragging rights.

Horsepower = Torque * RPM / 5252

Ever wonder why all the new uber cars have 8k+ redlines?

for the sound...

Coming from hondas, i love the sound of the engine when it hits 7-8k rpm.

I wish the c32 redlines were a little higher.

Been there done that. Had an A4, one of the most unreliable cars ever!! Glorified VW Passat

Sort of harsh on the A4. My wife's B5 A4 has held up pretty good so far with 138k. It's her DD and hard to not like in rain/snow. With that said, of course it doesn't compare to the C32(weekend warrior).
