Toyo T1Rs ?

I am about to get a set of these in 235/265 18 on the weekend........ I have read far to many reviews on different tires now, and was wondering if anyone here has had them, and they worked well on a C32.

I am mainly looking for dry traction from a standstill.

I have them on my car right now in those sizes and have had a bad experience with them

All 4 of the original set of tires I got were "out of round" verified by 2 independant shops and then the Benz dealership. The place I bought the tires from then replaced the front two tires. The second set was better but again, still out of round. I've also spoken to thier corporate customer service line and they were VERY rude and not helpful at all.

After spending hundreds on roadforce balances, I've decided I'm just going to live with it and get a different set of tires next time.

e1000 - did you have any problems rubbing with 265s? Is your car lowered?

stock 2006 suspension.

265's are a tight fit. It comes down to tires. I can have 5 people in my car and only rub when going over large bumps or make very agressive turns.

I originally had NT555's and they rubbed a little bit more than the T1-R's I have now. Again, I've never really worried about a rubbing issue other than it happens once in a while.

I have owned many sets of T1R's and they are great. Had a set on the C32 and they handle real well. Drt and wet traction are great. Once I put on the T1R's it was harder to break the back tore loose as they grip vey well. Best bang for your buck imo

They are an o.k. tire that gets terrible reviews in most tire tests when they are put up against the competition. I had the T1-S prior to the T1-R and liked the S's better. The R's chunk on the track and have little grip after a few laps. I will never buy them again.

I got the B Stone Pole Positions and just love em. At least check em out. Got em on a recommendation from a fellow MB world racer and they stick like gum to a shoe on a hot summer day.

Thanks for the input guy. I think they will give good traction, and as they are under 1/2 the price of the cheapest set of PS2s I could find, I am going to give them a try ..... will report back as to whether I am capable of using more than 1/2 the throttle from a standstill without stupid amounts of wheelspin ruining the acceleration. ... which I am very very very sick of.

The T1Rs are the best bang-for-the-buck, IMO.

I run them on my E55, and have run as fast as 11.59 @ 119, with a 1.67 60'.

This is the fastest E55 street-tire pass on record, AFAIK. When these are used up, I will replace them with like, or the Nitto NT01.

Well I can confirm that these Toyos do provide enough traction to make me very happy. I came across 335i today with an exhaust, and walked away from him quite easily from the traffic lights ...... before I would have just been spinning the wheels and would have been beaten.

Very happy with the T1Rs

If we're talking "bang for the buck", my vote goes to the Fuzion ZRi's. They aren't good for many miles, but on a hot summer day those are a very soft sticky tire. I also like the built in rim protector. Next I'm looking to try the Sumitomo HTR Z II's I think.

It all depends on what you value in a tire.

1. Outright grip?

2. All weather capability?

3. Durability?

4. Quietness?

Research and shop accordingly. Opinions as to what's good or bad, generally, are of no value without a summary of how the tire meets the above standards.

The OP specifies "dry grip from a standstill." IMHO, I'd go with the Nitto NT01. It's basically an R-compound tire. But don't blame me when the tire wears quickly, or is noisy, or sends you into a ditch in the rain or snow!

i have the T1R's on my 19s and it's a great grip.

just this past thanksgiving weekend i was driving back up 95 in pouring rain and the car didn't slip once, especially when i accelerate from 50 to higher speeds, even when i accelerate quickly, i have never slipped... i'm really happy with the T1Rs and they've got pretty good tread life in my experience as well (though i don't track my car, only highway miles)

It has been storming here in brisbane very badly over the last few weeks, and I can report that the grip in the wet from these toyos is nothing short of amazing ..... I can basically accelerate fully in the rain

+1...Pouring rain here last night and never had a problem. They also stick very nicely from digs.
