My new personal best for 1/4 mile!

Went to Speedworld in Arizona today with a bunch of other AMGs and SRTs and set a personal best in the 1/4 mile!

My car's setup:

LET Heat Exchanger
Resonator Delete
Full SL55 Intake (boxes, hoses, splitter)
SL55 K&N Filters
Code3 Supercharger Pulley
Belt Wrap Kit
245 Michelin Pilot Sport A/S (25psi)
Crappy 91 octane gas from AZ (its really like 88, or so I have heard from a forum member)

Results:
13.166 @ 106.272 (2.157 60')
13.472 @ 106.519
13.355 @ 106.868
13.284 @ 107.808
13.428 @ 108.090
13.102 @ 108.463 (2.146 60')

Conditions (for best run):
DA: 2784
Temp: 67.1 F
Humidity: 46%

Best results:
60': 2.148
1/8 mile: 8.558 @ 85.113
1/4 mile: 13.083 @ 109.053

DA Adjusted (as per the DA calculator on dragtimes.com)
12.915 @ 110.46 MPH

Notes:

Just missed getting that 12.xxx non DA adjusted. Hopefully next time, weather will be a tiny bit cooler. that may make the difference...or whats coming soon may help:

Coming soon:

LET tune
NGK plugs (new and regapped)
wires
maybe some Nittos
should get me into the 12s consistently. maybe even trapping (non adjusted) 111+?

Questions:
What do you guys think of my time and trap with my mods?

Traction:
I need Nittos. What do those run price wise?
Any other recommendations for traction besides LSD?

grab a set of nittos. Discount tire has them on ebay for a nice price.

Then, talk to Jerry about a tune. For what your running, it will be the best option.

elevation really hurt your ETA and Trap but very strong for your neck of the woods.

108 to 109 without tuning is pretty nice!

I would not worry about the other little mods.. I think you just need the tune now.

I thought you ran a 13.0something? Not to hijack... My primary cat (drivers side) took a crap on my way home from the drags and gave me a CEL. Might have been why I felt kinda slow out there in the top end. Just ordered some hi flow cats from Random Technologies 200cel. Renntech is going to retune me for added flow and O2 ajustment. We are guessing 10hp gain.

Josh, IF you're out in PHX area durring Christmas time lets hit the drags and get some beers after. Night time racing when its cold will make for better numbers. There is no doubt you have a 12 second car.

i did....my best time was a 13.038. i only hit it once though. the other times i hit 13.1x-13.4x.

sorry to hear about your cats. that definitely could have had an effect at the track. were you already running high flows?

i should be in PHX during Christmas time and would definitely be down for some night time racing to hit those 12s and beers afterward. hopefully i'll have some more stuff done by then, and maybe tires.

we'll have to check when speedworld is available to figure out a day. (or firebird if speedworld is not available).

Nice times.................once you get some drag radials you'll break into the 12's for sure.

I would say he should at least get a set of DR's. Traction can be very poor out here at time with street tires. Lots of us with street tire have a hard time hooking up out here with the lack of track prep. "Cruzinquick" uses slicks almost never gets wheel spin. He's a very good driver though. IF you watch some of the really bad video's you can see a bunch of us getting wheel spin. BTW, all of you who were there Saturday; that left lane was very tricky.

thanks!

so it doesn't matter if i do wires/plugs after the tune? i just figured i would do it right before the tune to get the best possible results (since apparently regapped plugs can actually make a difference and mine are probably shot at 76K).

I have Evosport headers into stock primary cats then and then custom cat back into stock AMG mufflers. I guess the stock Primary cats are like 400-500cell so the 200cel cats should make a diff. Not to knock your friends Z28 in any way, but i've never had a car start to pull on me at the top of the track when i was winning the whole way. so that really racked my brain. I was lucky to win that race by about a fender. I said to myself when i seen him creeping up "is this really happening lol!" Then sure enough i stop and get gas (91oct) and a mile down the road the cats went. I tell you what though that Z28 was quick. I would love to see what that car could do with another $600 dollars into it. Biggest sleeper Z28 i've ever seen. Tell him I'm still thinkin about that race. We will line it up Race until about 930-10pm and then hit up Snotsdale for drinks. Tell your buds it was cool having them there. Right now my car feels like a total slush box should be fixed by the end of the week.

I did my plugs just before the track meet and my old plugs with 39,000 miles were a rusty red color from all the fuel additives they put in the gas out here. I did a dyno after new Iridium NGK's and gained zero HP. I would still do the plugs anyway. You will have some piece of mind knowing you went out there with the best possible set. Rule out all the "what ifs"

hmm......i will probably go ahead and do plugs/wires before the tune then. i dont like "what ifs." Brandon from Code3 was telling me that i will see gains throughout the curve by regapping them (even stock heat range) to .034. i guess tune will shortly follow that.

Saturday the 27th has a day trophy bracket race, then the night drags. The night drags usually start at 7pm. Since I'll be officially crushing my best time in CA next month I'll go out an run my street radials with you guys. I may put on the ps2's I got from costco way cheap, and burn the heck out of them. I did run 12.7's all last winter with my stock conti's for the record, and Distantpulse ran 11.9's on streets back east.

I had a blast out there with you guys. You're not kidding about the left lane being tricky. I thought it was all mental, but my two right lane runs I could not break out of the low 12s and my first (and only) run in the right lane was an 11.7 @120mph and it was my latest run after things started warming up a bit. Can't wait to do it again soon.
