I think I'm going to shop around and buy some used head and send then off to be p&p to keep the down time to a min. seems to me a better way to go.

Honestly a p&p job on your heads wont give you that much power for the money. BUT if you can take the heads off yourself and bring em to a machine shop it might be worth it. If i remeber correctly, I wanted a p and p job on my 5.0, like 9 years ago. For them to do the whole thing they charged like $1000 or $1200. If I brought in the heads myself, it was like $450-$650.

Ya consider p&p the intake mani / throttle body? You could probably get your hands on them easier than a set of heads - just a thought...

well besides p/p heads, TB, doing cam, going force induction, i guess your only other option could be......

and i know this is becoming from like BEYOND left field (beyond beyond beyond), but what about swapping in a different motor? i doubt you want to do that after all of your work on this one. some motors have a lot left on the table. I'm not suggesting what motor, but I know on Brock's LS1, his car with the right mods (minus nitrous) can trap 126 in Tucson on 91 all day (seen it). crate LS2 motors can cost 7K and LS7 up to 14 or 15.....which is definitely expensive, and which is why this is a highly improbable and unlikely idea, but i'm just throwing it out there. those cars, you can mod the daylights out of them.

probably near impossible to swap a non MB motor into a newer MB anyway with all of electrical and computer issues that would come up

question: would any 3valve M113 head work on a C55??? I found a set on ebay that are off a 2001 car, I know the cams are diferant from non-AMG to AMG so cam swap would be inorder.

Which car is lighter c55 or clk55(208)? Why dont you mod your car like blackbenzz? Can u put the same mods from his clk to your 203? If u could man, I think I will buy a c55 instead of a e55.

You absolutely could pursue the same mods as blackbenzz on a C55. The recipe's main ingredients would be the following: S/C the engine ($7k-10kish, + labor), tranny build ($5k + labor), Quaife LSD ($1,500 + labor), LTW wheels w/ sticky DRs ($1k or so?); you'll be damn close to $20k all-in, if not over it... maybe by quite a bit.

FWIW, I'd just get a 55K before doing all that... YMMV, of course.

If you have 5k then one word TURBO. Low boost intercooled.

These aren't Honda Civics. You'd have to factor in custom manifolds with proper welds, oil lines, a location for the turbo or turbo's. Even then you'd need to worry about the computer throwing codes. It's a lot more labor intensive, and annoying than one would think. 5k would be a mild price. I'd still say the kleemann price would equate to a turbo setup.

I'm not against a turbo, but on this one I'm not going to be the first to do it. If I get a set of used heads i can always tell the lady I got them from a bone yard then have then sent out to be rebuilt, P&P and when they are ready to go have them installed. IDK something along those lines.

From the title of this thread it appeared to me that Hooleyboy wasnt getting any action from his better half. I see now he was talking about his car. None the less Home Dept sells some nice Dog Houses if need be if he decides to invest more money in his car.

LOL I've come to embrace the dog house. IF I even mention anything about Mercedes or AMG I get a nice "will you STFU about your car" from my girl. Im Irish shes Italian so anyone who's been in that situation knows. She just thinks I'm destroying a nice car. I even get crap about being on MBworld.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again......the "ultimate" C55 will be one with a supercharger from a company like Kleeman. A proven product from a company with the most experience in this area so the headaches will hopefully be minimal regarding safety/reliability/installation.

Making ~500-540HP at the crank has to make a significant difference compared to what any N/A 55 car has.

hooley.....save your bucks......wait until the significant other "relaxes" a bit.......and then supercharge your C55.

Again, this assumes you really want to keep your C55, because the other obvious option is to get another car altogether so you start off with a lot more power even when stock (like a E55/CLS55, etc, etc).

Time to put someone in her place.

1) Does she have a job? If yes, ask her what she is planning on buying you as an engagement gift. My wife got a diamond ring, and I got a Rolex.

2) Tell her you want to be fair and understand her need for a validation of your commitment to her and you want to start demonstrating that validation immediately. for her sake, of course. Every pay day take $1,000 (money variable by your financial situation) and put it aside. $500 for the engagement gifts (one ring for her, and one whatever for you). $500 for the Supercharger.

Got another solution for you

Instead of putting 10k in your car, give it to the honey as her engagement present, she better be happy. Go buy an SRT6 for only a few grand more, and go right into the 11's. I'll even give you some tips on launching the little monster. BTW, I found the usb adapter for my video camera. I'll load some runs from the meet later tonight. Here's my favorite so far.
