slk55 AMG to 6.3 engine swap
I own a 2005 slk55 I got 135000 miles on it an am considering an engine rebuild soon I was thinking can I replace it with a 6.3 instead my worries are the electronics and transmission coupling ... electronics cause of harness compatibility 6.3 has variable timing selenoids om the front of the heads and the 5.5 does not and the transmission simply needs to fit has anybody have any knowledge on this issue,
thanks

maybe
Clk black ecu would be the easy answer off the top of my head. Not sure how accurate that is though
Now unless the subframe is different on the BS than a normal 209, the m156 should fit in a c55 and slk55, just as the 722.9 trans (7spd) should fit in a c55 as the slk55 uses it already. Ive often wondered what the driving experience would be like using the newer trans in the 203... better top end responsiveness, gas mileage?
Before I totaled my c55 this year I had crackpipe dreams of slowly converting it to a c55 black series. spr was using a bs steering rack with no issues and as modular as mercedes built these cars I couldnt foresee a motor and trans swap to be out of the question as well in the hands of the right tuner
I think it was sunil who was converting that c230 into a c55k. I believe he started with a 203 and did the front clip swap to fit the m113k as well as a bunch of other luxury goodies (keyless, parktronic, folding mirrors)

c55 m156 swap
I own a 2005 C55 and i was actually working on this swap at one point. I found a salvaged 2009 clk63 that was totaled out (rear ended). When it was all said and done, the guy flakes on me, so i just sorta put the project on hold and stopped looking for another clk.
I did a lot of research on this swap and a lot of the parts are interchangeable and compatible with each other... bumper/fenders, Break calipers/rotors, engine&trans, steering wheel, ecu, etc.... basically the entire front end of the car SHOULD bolt right on. Of course, it may SOME modifications but for the most part ive been told, that most of the swap willl be plug-n-play and " bolt on" lol
If anyone has already already COMPLETED this swap, PLEASE msg me.. any info will be helpful.
Thanks

PS. I wouldn't swap the 6.2 into the C55.. get another w203 to mess around with instead.

If it was a C55, we know 6.2L V8 can fit, as the CLK63 (coupe and cabrio)proves. In fact, I always wondered why nobody ever mentioned doing a 6.2L V8 engine swap on a C55. The only real difference mechanically is that the C55 has the older 5 speed transmission, while the CLK63 has the 7 speed transmission. Electronics.....I don't know about.
Whether his non-AMG tuned transmission and electronics from 2005 will be problematic is another issue. Also, his C230 does not have a CLK front end, which may make fitting the new V8 problematic.

I would go with the M113K instead of the M156 in a W203 if I were you.
M113 is most probably the most reliable engine AMG have ever built.
M156, sadly, has a lot of issues but you could be fortunate but it´s like rolling a dice..
I´m keeping my M113...
The solution seemed to be extra lubrication on the upper camshafts. Not to mention the
heatsoaked gearbox when pushing it with limp-home-mode as another issue as standard.
-But the sound of it is one of the best out there!!!
