How loud is your C55 from cold?

How loud is your C55 from cold?
It may be a coincidence, but on my last Service B the dealer put in 5W-something or other Mobil 1 (I don't remember for sure which one) claiming that it works well in the Arizona climate. Now that it's winter at cold start I get a fair amount of mechanical noise, and keep in mind I'm talking Arizona cold starts with means all of 45 deg F. I'm pretty sure it's valve lifters, but can't exclude a timing chain tensioner or even piston slap. The noise is worst from in the 1,500 to 2,000 rpm range and goes away after about a mile.
I'm thinking that it's the thicker oil not circulating enough, but has anybody else had this problem?

My car sounds like a machine gun in the morning.
I dont really notice much other than emissions pump and fuel injector noise. Maybe you should do what I do. Turn the radio up a bit and you will forget about the noise.
Really though, There are alot of things happening under the hood. When it gets cooler out here in AZ sounds may pop up that are unexpected because we are so use to warmer temps.
