Hello, all! Just wanted to introduce myself as a new C55 owner from the Scottsdale area of AZ. I picked up an '05 with 53k miles last weekend and have a couple questions:

1) The car does not have a CD changer. Is the car pre-wired for a changer, such as behind the glove compartment panel?

2) I do have a very slight burning fluid smell, but there are no drips anywhere on the ground, so it must be small. The research I've done on this site (thanks, by the way!) leads me to look at the power steering hoses or valve cover(s) as the possible culprit. Anything else?

Other than those two items, I think the car is great. Coming from an M3, I miss the manual transmission, but I needed the four doors for my growing family. Being responsible sucks sometimes, but at least I get a cool car out of it! Thanks for any assistance.

Thanks for the warm welcomes, all! Well, I took off the engine cover last night, and the leak is definitely coming from both valve covers. There's oily dirt in between the covers and the intake manifold.

So, I ordered up both valve cover gaskets this morning (only $26 each, surprisingly) and will install them this weekend along with some K&Ns to replace the filthy paper filters that were in there.

As for the wheels, I haven't had them off yet, so I'm unsure of the brand/width, but they're 19s, and the tire sizes are 235/35 and 265/30.

Frankly, I'm surprised how loud the exhaust is. I'm not sure if I'll remove the resonator, at least not yet. I'm all for modding a car (I've had an M3, many Mustangs (two of them race cars), a Dodge Magnum R/T, etc.), but I do appreciate that the C55's exhaust is authoritative without being boomy or obnoxious. Of course, I say that now. Check back with me in a few months, and I'll probably have removed the resonator.

Oh, and are there ever any Mercedes/AMG events in the Scottsdale area?!?

love the super low pro... a word of advice, check ur psi regularly! that was my biggest issue for the first year of my car... didn't check often enough and that KILLED gas mileage!

good luck... looks great

u should also PM folex and pick one of the 5.5 AMG (63 style) badges... i heard he's got alot left over and it looks sick, helps make the side profile look alot more aggressive

Welcome! Love the rims.........did you ever find out what they are?

Answer to question 1. I believe yes its prewired via Fiber Optic cable.
2. What type of smell...be very specific and detailled we may have an answer.

They are C63 replicas or real deal ones

I think those might be the CL 40th anniversary rims. I'm not much of a wheel expert, but it appears from the picture that the interior of each spoke is open--not just recessed and painted like the C63 rims.

I replaced the valve cover gaskets myself over the weekend, and all seems good now. There was definitely oil dripping from both covers, both onto the headers and the intake. Glad that this was a pretty easy fix, and thanks for everyone's input.
