how strong is the C55 M113NA block?

Just wondering what the limitations are on the block. Is the block in the C55, M113NA different than the M113SC? What is the most this thing can handle power wise? With internals replaced with forged parts could you get E55 big power the guys in the w211 section get? At what point does the block become the week spot?

Only one way to find out... buy a "donor motor" and test it to failure

If that's not an option, I'm sure splinter or boohooramblers can chime in with the information you require - documented, footnoted, and with the appropriate bibliographical sources referenced

there was some disagreement over whether the internals were the same or not. We talked about it on amgsc's thread. I think someone quoted the marketing statement of the c55 by mercedes as saying reinforced internals..some people took that as forged.

Since having forged internals for most people is a huge deal, most manufacturers actually used the word forged in there marketing statements when they use forged internals.

Rods are usually the first to go when turboing NA cars. You'll need forged rods if there not forged already.

The internal (pistons, crankshaft) are different because of the compression. A past member from here had a C55 with a Kleeman SC and he was putting out around 550hp I think.

if you believe the wiki..this is what i digged up.

The Mercedes-Benz M113 (and similar M155) engine is a V8 automobile piston engine family used in the 2000s. It was based on the similar M112 V6 introduced in 1998.

The standard Mercedes-Benz M113s are built in Untertürkheim, Germany, while the AMG E55 versions are assembled at AMG's Affalterbach, Germany plant. All M113s have aluminum engine blocks and aluminum SOHC cylinder heads. The cylinders are lined with silicon/aluminum, and the heads have 3 valves per cylinder. Other features include SFI fuel injection, fracture-split forged steel connecting rods, a one-piece cast camshaft, and a magnesium intake manifold.

Doesn't mention forged pistons but the forged rods are great news...should allow to go little higher on boost. But i would get confirmation from the pros before you risk your $20k engine.
