C55 Poor Brakes

Hello

This is my first post after being a reader on here for a while and I’d appreciate some help and feedback please.

I’m from the UK and I’ve owned a C43 for 7 years as a daily driver and love the car although now that’s been semi retired and passed on to my wife as I have been driving a 2005 C55 for the past 18 months.

The one thing that I can’t seem to get any good on the C55 is the brakes………The C43's will nearly put you through the screen when you hit them hard but I’ve always found the C55’s brakes lacking power.

I’m on my second set of MB discs and have tried both MB and several aftermarket street / race pads. Fluid has been changed regularly and I always bed in new stuff.

I’m about to try some braided steel lines and a makeshift venting system to get some cooling air onto the calipers as in addition to lacking outright stopping power they seem to fade fairly quickly if driven hard on the twisties.

Any feedback on similar issues from other owners and known braking mods to overcome the above problems would be gratefully received.

Braided lines and Motul 600 makes a nice difference. Use a higher coefficient friction material in the pads if you can deal with the noise.

I DON'T COME HERE ANYMORE
I dropped the drilled fronts and went with just slotted (F+R), SS lines, Motul 600 for DD, and Axxis ULT pads-(1) I've noticed that in the wet, this new set up is waaaaay better then factory, and (2), with the SS lines, I think you'll notice a little better pedal feel (not a ton, but def stiffer)-PM me if you need a contact at Evosport-guys over there def. can hook you up!)

It's pricey, but upgrade them to the 6 pot front and 4 pot rear. You won't believe the difference.

Thanks for the replies, has anyone else experienced weak o/e brakes on the C55?

Drove the C43 yesterday and it really showed up the difference again!

I dont know that weak is the right term that I would use-coming from an Evo X, Mazdaspeed3, and RalliArt prior to the C55-I think the feel isnt as good as the previous mentioned, but I think for a 3500# sedan-they work well-I have noticed that at light pedal theres light braking-but from light to med/heavy push-they seem to grab sooner and harder then if you just layed into them (if that makes sense to anyone)-I havent had the chance to drive a 43 before-it could be that the set up is better for that car then the C55-but I def think the upgrades mentioned earlier are a must to compare to another line up-
