A whole hell of a lot of fun. I've gotta head back out and try to get some video. This sucker absolutely RIPS with 100 octane. I'm lovin' it.

So is your tune specifically for 100 octane? Or 91 and you're trying 100?

TIA!

It's tuned for 93 octane, but does get a noticeable boost in performance with it. I only had a chance to do a 26-106 run because there just weren't many opportunities tonight.

Whose 100 octane is it consuming?

Are you still in the 20 degree BTDC vicinity between 4500 and 6200 RPM according to your data logging?

It must haul the mail.

I went to Delta Sonic in Downer's Grove and got some of their 100 unleaded. At $6.50/gallon, I won't be doing this often. I didn't do any data logging with the race gas, so I couldn't tell you.

Yeah, I was surprised that I broke them loose like that.....not even from a kickdown.

Or you can run 87 oct and save about 3.50 a gallon and then have all kinds of CEL when you run her hard Don't ask me how I know this, I just do. Jerry's gas station sign is still one of the all time classic photoshop jobs I have seen,

I ran a 12.7 at 110 with a Jerry Tune and 93, so I am going to try the local Marathon at $6.00 a gallon for 100 oct.

There is a Road Ranger up in Irving Park that has 100 octane a bit cheaper. Last time I went there, it was something like $4.50 a gallon.

At the Road Ranger in Bensenville? If that's the case, I'll just go to Downer's Grove.

I've recently done a LOT of research on many different forums on the use of 100 unleaded. The consensus seems to be that 1. Unless your car has a "tune" for 100 octane, it wont do a bit of good. 2. It will not improve performance without a tune, ONLY prevent the ignition from pulling back if it senses detonation (particularly at high ambient temps outside). I went to about 10 forums including the Mini forum and the ZO-6 forum as well as the regular Vette forums. One guy was a petroleum engineer and his argument was that unless you have a tune for it, it wont make a difference. Perhaps your butt dyno was feeling it more than a real one?? Did Jerry tune you for 100 octane??? Note that with recent gas price increases, its running over $4.00 per gallon and in Mundelein its $6.50 per gallon at the Clark??Marathon? Go figure.

It's tuned for 93 octane, but I don't break the rear tires loose at 50mph on 93 octane. On 100 octane, they broke loose and that wasn't even from a kick down. I've read some of the discussions about it before, and I think it's a perfectly valid point that there should be little to no gains with 100 octane unless the car is tuned for it. But, my car did react positively when I ran a few gallons through it.

Very noticeable difference when 100 octane is in tank Car just wants to go...BTW I am tuned for 100 or 110 I believe...not cheap power its $5.99-$6.50 at a mobil close to me. I already had 3 tank full now mixing with 93 til late next week

With the 100 octane tune, how does it run when you just have 93 octane? Other than it being a little slower, does it run fairly normal?

I thought the car would pull less timing with higher octane = more hp, regardless of tune. No?
Obviously, if the car was specifically tuned to run on 100 or 110 it should perform even better, but even the tuning gurus seem to think a normal 91/93 octane tune will perform better on race fuel. I have yet to try this personally as I'm not in a hurry to burn out my cats and have no need, but still curious.
I can assure you these colder temps down south the past couple days have made my car feel like she gained 100hp!! Wow, what a difference cooler temps and low humidity make!

Honestly it runs pretty powerfully but definitely can feel the added power of the 100 octane I put in. On 93 it runs fine I most likely gonna try the 100 for US41 but 93 for the next(most likely Byron)...
