I purchased 4 Toyo Proxes R888 17" for my OEM rims but it seems the front 225/45/17 might be out of stock so my question is would it be ok to tell them to instead send me two R1R in that size instead?

Who are you getting them from? I don't really know anything about tires, but I do know someone that works for Toyo if you want I can see if I can get them for you.

No reason you can't. I wouldn't though just because I would rather wait and have a full matched set.

It's not an easy answer used.

I have used two differnt types of tires MANY times, but it does have a few drawbacks:

1. On high crown roads the car will feel MORE suirrely, aka drift back and forth.
2. I have done this for making the car more neutral, aka stickier tires up front, less grip in the rear. Which ever way you mount them, one axle WILL have more grip. I guess what I am telling you is that one way the car will be tail happy, aka fun, and one way the car will plow like a pig, aka no fun

Will it hurt anything, ABSOLUTELY not.
Will it handle odd at times, ABSOLUTELY yes.

Hence the delima my friend.

Good luck and see yeah

well I picked them up today...most places wanted over $200 each without shipping including tire rack so I gave another place a shot but unlike some of the vendors I tried it didn't show if they had a quantity so I gave them a shot anyways but it's ok I recieved them today and will mount them tomorrow

Puts some miles on them prior to taking your PB and making it mine
