Reset Battery/Alternator error message on C32
All,
I have searched around and could not find if there's a DIY guide on resetting the error code for Battery/Alternator...see workshop on a C32.
To make a long story short, my waterpump pulley broke while driving to work last Friday (had a recall and waiting for my replacement to come in). Good thing I was already close to work so I didn't have to drive that far without my waterpump....I was lucky enough to have bought just in the nick of time the 185mm Eurocharged pulley's so I had those installed. Now everything seems good after the install but I still need to reset the error message.
Anyone knows of a link or have the know how on resetting the message? Thanks

you can try the ecu reset, if not you might need to take it to a star machine. I had the same message when i replaced my alternator, the error code cleared itself though.

Check the charging system, what is voltage at with car running at idle. should be atleast 13.5 volts. that error will clear itself if there is no problems with battery or charging system. Battery/Alternator light goes out automatically if everything is OK.

I also wanted to add that when my waterpump pulley broke, my serpentine belt was shredded to pieces, which cause the battery/alternator error to show up. I looked into the manual and it seems like this error will show up too when the belt is broken. In my case shredded

Yeah he told me about the warning error not going away. He's not an independent, Mercedes only shop, he works with all European cars. Been working on them for over 20 years. He does a good job, this is my 2nd time being there. He does not have star diag. system so I'm sure that's why he could not reset the error message.
He does have quite a collection of cars that he's working on, an Aston Martin, Bimmers, a few older mercedes benz. Keep in mind I'm in Birmingham, AL so it's hard to find a really reputable shop down here. Even if the shop is highly sought after, will probably cost an arm and a leg just to get stuff done.

The easiest way to know, is check battery voltage with car running. But I can tell you the batt./alt light will go out by itself if charging system is 100% OK. Alternator may not be charging or battery is soo weak, the alternator may not be able to bring voltage up to specification.
