Resonator Delete, what pipe size etc?
I did not use them. I decided to get a few mods done as one package at ttmotorsports in farmingdale long island. you could look them up http://www.ttmotorsports.com/careers.htm however, i think your best bet is to purchase the pipe @ http://www.verociousmotorsports.com first then go to any muffler shop that could do the work for you. So, you all had a laugh at the $260 price tag I have been quoted to do this in the UK. Tt's Crazy aeh!
Heres my situation. I used to be an aluminum fabricator for Yachts. I have used an arc welder (stick) to do mild steel and a Mig to do Aluminum alot.
I have some car ramps, and can get enough clearance to get under there to to it myself. I am wondering if anyone can help me with the following info:
1) Looks like I will get some 304 grade stainless 3" pipe. £30
2) I will hire an arc welder for the weekend (£30 with sticks included)
3) Put the car up on ramps and cut the resonator off and weld in the new pipe, job done for £60 ($100 USD) and a bit of elbow grease.
Heres my questions:
1) Will the Arc (stick) welder be suitable for this job, and does anyone know what stick size to use for the weld?
2) Is 3" 304 grade stainless the best pipe to use. What wall size is the best?
3) Can the bolts near the front cats be undone easily so the exhaust can be dropped from the car? What size are these bolts and do I need a joint gasket or compound when putting it back together?
4) Do you recommend undoing this join and tak-ing the new pipe in place on the vehicle, and then taking the exhaust off to do the full welds?
5) Any other info would be valuable from someone who has done or seen this process.
I really think that this will make a great difference, hence my investment to try to do. It's crazy the prices for custom work over here and I think I can achieve this from doing it myself.
From what I have seen the sound is noticeable and impressive.
Thank you for any info.
Now - I must point out, the actually underbelly picture used is not mine - it's one I gave to the guy who worked on my car.
We used 2 1/2" stainless pipe to replace the cats & 3" pipe for the resonator.
Work done by Buckhead Imports (Jason Cummins) in Atlanta, GA. GREAT GUY!

This is happening on Monday, I'll let you know the results!

I Got a C32 here in the UK.
Has anyone done a resonator delete and can let me know what pipe size I would need to purchase, and what material the standard C32 Exhaust is made of?
I have good mig and arc welding skills, but need to know the pipe size and material of the exhaust so I can hire the right welder to put the replacement pipe in. It's very expensive to do custom exhaust work over here at a shop, and not as easy to get this mod done as it seems in the USA so I am going to have a go myself. (I have been quoted $300 USD to do this job, so can hire a welder for $40 and do it myself.)
Any tips to drop the exhaust system lower (get top of pipes welded) or what welder type, pipe type, and rough amp settings would really help thanks.
Thanks alot for any info,
Regards, Murks
