Hey guys,

I'm curious about an OEM supercharger.. Is it possible to put a new supercharger from a E55, SL55 onto my C55. To me it seems like I could put it on, get a new Ecu and hopefully have a reliable, low boost, supercharged c55. ..

Then again I'm no tech, so thanks for any information.

hooleyboy may be better suited to answer this as he is s/c. but i beleive the s/c for the 55 is the same as the s/c from the 32. the issues will be ecu compatablility and will the internals of the engine be able to handle the added power?

not sure if they are the same blower. i think the E55 is a larger one, but dont quote me on that......i just know mike got his from an E55

as far as tuning, yah its gonna be a biotch. as far as handling the power, just dont run high boost unless you mess with the internals. i think mike is running a max of 7lbs of boost, though that was before his LTs, which i think dropped it to 5

Agree with rockjock. Although Hooleyboy did it, it took quite a bit of custom work to make it work.

If you want a supercharged C55, I would go for the Kleeman supercharger, which is made specifically for our engine......less headache, less worry, less work.

short answer is no because of the electro magnetic clutch.

you could do the eurocharged turbo setup for the c32 but thats about the only way you will get above 390 rwp. even then tcu issues and hooking the tires becomes the problem

Go with a Kleemann but try to find the older twin-screw design instead of the new roots design. One member named Blackbenzz (Ahmad) has a Kleemann twin-screw in his 2001 CLK55 and he is the only V8 MB to break into the 10's in the quarter mile ET without NOS. In fact he posted a 10.7 and is working on a few more mods that may push him into the mid 10's such as the 82mm TB and LT headers. I also have a Kleeemann TS in my car but have upgraded internals that could potentially push me deep into the 10's as well. To date the fastest non-nos V8 MB is at 11.116 by Eballer's E55.

these two statements contradict each other. if Ahmad's car is the ONLY MB V8 to break into the 10's without nitrous, then how is EBaller's E55 which ran an 11.116 the fastest MB V8 without nitrous? Ahmad's time is faster.

btw, as a sidenote (and only b/c im OCD about it, so please don't take this the wrong way and i apologize in advance), NOS is the abbreviation for nitric oxide synthase (a blood protein/enzyme responsible for synthesizing nitric oxide) and Nitrous Oxide Systems (the company). it does not stand for nitrous, which i'm assuming you were referring to.

added: the actual abbreviation for nitrous oxide is N2O, in case anyone else was wondering lol.

I know NOS is a brand of Nitrous. So is ZEX, NE and several others. Eballer's time is posted on Dragtimes as Blackbenzz is not. He refused to because he does not want anybody to know what his times are at the track.

Hmmm... well, if he didn't want anyone to know what his times are, I very much doubt that he'd post them himself to a public forum either - but I do recall when he said it bothered him that anyone who did a dragtimes search would already know what to expect out of his car.

Either way, his car is the fastest non-nitrous Mercedes V8 AFAIK... and therefore is the benchmark for those who feel like chasing that record.

While that's certainly pertinent info, it wasn't part of bobby's question, was it?

IMHO, "the short answer is yes, but talk to MIDO, and be prepared to write a really big check"

Hooleyboy's conclusion, having done the E55 supercharger mod was that anyone wishing to supercharge their C55 should go with Kleemann. The cost and work involved in fabricating and tuning for the E55 kompressor just doesn't make it a cost effective mod. It does make for one hell of an awesome ride though.

Yup, He IS my benchmark right now. I'm going after his record but in good spirits.

You can do it. Its not cheap though. You have to buy all sorts of parts like bolts, pulleys, water pump, injectors, fuel rail, supercharger, intercooler, heat exchanger, pump, surge tanks, custom intake, a bunch of wiring, thermostat, oil filter hosing. The list goes on. Then there is the tuning and dyno time. Dyno time can add up fast.

So yeah, its not a cost effective mod. I really stopped counting how much money I spent on the project. In fact I dont care to know how much i spent.

Kleemann's SC, will save you money and some headaches.

As for the C55 record, It will be broken. I think it would be great if someone did beat my time. I intend to beat it as soon as it cools off out here in AZ. If I can help in away way to make people want to go faster and enjoy their car that much more. I'm all for that. Get out and race. Its a lot of fun.

I don't run nitrous, so some of you guys are a button away from beating me. I got a new pulley ready to install on my car so it will be fun to see what that does. Also my car shifts amazing now so I wont get shift delay at the track when going though the gears.

Where can I find the Kleemann older twin-screw design? What is the difference between the old TS and the new root design?

type kleemann twin screw and you may find someone selling theirs. Just recently a guy with an E500 was returning his lease and put his up for sale at a great price.

Rob, Why is the old Kleemann blower better than the new one? Is the old kleemann blower a Kenny Bell style? I know you want to make 25psi on the Kleemann blower. Can it do that?

the old one is twin screw and the new one is roots. So its less efficient. They only made the switch because there cheaper to make.

yes, the Kleemann twin-screw is the same as the Autorotor 2.2litre which Kenne Bell bought the rights to. This unit can pump 26psi efficiently but anymore and you would need a 2.6 Blowzilla which Kleeman does not offer.
Lysholm and Autorotor are not the same. Google Autorotor vs. Lysholm and you will see what I mean.
