(It puts the flame suit on)

So if I can't figure out how to put a tow hitch on the car then I'm go to have to sell it, that simple. I just need to be able to tow a small trailer, 5x8, with a motorcyle in the back.

Can't find anything online or in the archives. Any help appreciated.

The amount of money you'll lose in depreciation is what you could use to buy yourself a small truck for towing. And save yourself the headache and possible problems if you do start using the benz as a tow vehicle.

Plus, you're gonna get some really really nasty looks on the road for using your high performance rare specialty vehicle as your tacoma.

Mercedes make a tow hitch that will fit the car. It's not cheap but it ties into the electronics and the alarm. The reciever can be removed and stowed in a holder with the spare tire. Contact Steve at MbenzNL

They do, but it's rated for every w203 except the C55. Probably something to do with having too much torque.

Trailer hitches on Mercs are pretty common once you leave the states. It's common to see E-classes towing things and it's not uncommon to see hitches on S-classes. The strangest one I saw was a R107 SL towing a horse trailer in Germany on the autobahn.

lol! Steve said it had to do with the AMG bumper and that he has installed them on every c class. I was going to do it because it's getting old driving the Suburban to tow my one quad to the beach to go riding.

The strangest thing I saw was an Acura with a gutter machine mounted to the top. It had a post mounted to each corner attached to the bumpers. And a rack that went over the entire car???? Just wish I had a camera that day. We do have a car that runs around with a big fountain on top. I think I have a picture of that somewhere.

Not to mention the fact that you'd be saving the milage on the C55 by taking a truck back and forth to beach.

Or you can do what I did and buy a street bike and ride it to the beach. Just picked up a 2009 Harley Davidson Nightser 1200....man is that thing fun.

I hope you understand and don't take this personally, but many of us probably said "what an idiot" when we first read this post . Lol jk.

The good thing is, most of the owners here in this AMG section seem to be good natured, civilized people. Although the cops probably tend to disagree with us.

Good to hear we changed your mind

I'd install the hitch if you can get something discreet. I'd much rather tow something in my C55 than in some beater pickup. Besides, people tow their track day tires in utility trailers all the time. Just take the thing back off if you are ever going to sell the car.

Hey there,

I ran across this ebay auction and thought i'd share the link with you. It's a tow hitch for what is listed as 02-07 c-class cars. Hope that points ya in the right direction. I personally would use a truck, but in this economy not everyone has that option. Good luck.

Albert Hernandez.

I don't know? here it's a big deal but from what I have seen in Europe towing a small trailer is no big deal. Ive seen a Porsche doing it. But I think it was because the trailer had matching paint and wheels. You see they must match! But here in the land of the over sized trucks and SUV land barges we all shy away from towing with anything that cant tow a triple axle sea going vessel.

I don't think it's the fact of using a luxury sedan as a tow vehicle as the fact that it's a very rare high performance specialty sedan being used to tow.
