Another Catalytic Converter Thread
Well, I just got a CEL tonight while leaving work. Stopped by autozone and it was code P0432. Catalyst efficiency low-bank 2
So it gave me a list of possible problems:
1 Defective catalytic converter (failure possibly due to 2,3, or 4)
2 Engine misfire or running condition
3 large vacuum leak
4 engine oil leakage in exhaust-valve guide, seals, piston rings
So I do not think I have any of the possible failure points of the catalytic converter. No smoke comes out of the exhaust, idles well, and runs well.
The car is a 2002 c32 and it has about 110k miles on it. I'm thinking that the catalytic converters probably needs to be replaced. I wanted to get some idea of what I could use to replace them. I'm thinking that I will probably go the aftermarket route, because it will be much cheaper than the oem one.
I have searched the forum, but I have not got any definitive answers as to what aftermarket replacement I should use. I did find this thread
https://mbworld.org/forums/c32-amg-c...er-melted.html and it pointed me to these cats http://www.car-sound.com/02product/universal/race.asp
What should I do, and if I need to replace the cats, which ones should I get?

I forgot to mention that I did search the p0432 code, but I didn't come up with much, only two threads.

No, I sure haven't. I may have to check into that. I got the car with around 60k and now it has close to double that amount. It definitely would not be a bad thing to do, but do you think that would cause the problem I'm having or would this been the culprit that caused the problem? I'm going to look in to fixing some of the problems this weekend, just haven't had the time.
I'm just dumb founded as to what kind of catalytic converter that I would need to buy, if mine needs to be replaced.
I think this will be the new problem for high mile c32's, hope not, but my car seems to be fine and I'm not sure why my cats would have gone bad.
