I have the Optima Red Top in my C55. I bought a metal battery box about the same size as the Optima, cut it to size, trimmed off the extra bolt lengths, drilled two holes in the OE battery tray, bolted the new box down, painted it metallic gray and volia -- a stock looking holder for my Optima battery. Saved about 30 lbs with about 1 hr install time. However, you could probably get away with using a rubber bungee strap in about 10 min.

can you post a picture? or perhaps describe what you did a little more? like did you litterally just put the battery inside a cardbox made to fix there and hook it up to the car? i'm guessing you stuffed some kind of material around the battery (assuming it wasnt a perfect fit in the box) to prevent it from rolling around lol
Naw I just put battery in and then folded cardboard on open side of battery compartment I will post pic in a little while it's raining and I need to go outside to take it.

Here is the pics keep in mind I've been running it like this trouble free for over a year now...I could think of a better way to strap it down but as I see it if it ain't broke don't fix it plus the cabin air filter that mounts there covers how ugly it looks.

lol nice. whatever works.....when you take your car to the dragstrip, do they look at that funny? i'm not sure that would pass inspection over here. i think the battery has to be tied/strapped down or something at the very least.

Glad to hear it was only the battery! Optima is a good battery but I'm thinking of replacing mine with a Batcap when the time comes. Check them out if you haven't already.

The cabin filter that attached above it hides the battery so honestly no one sees unless I remove it...I'd pretty sure there is an easy way that looks professional to strap down battery but honestly I don't care as long as it doesn't move on me.

I went through a new set of battery as well but few weeks later, CPS went bad...
I hope it doesn't happen to yours but keep that in mind..
