Are you changing out your odometer cluster too?

Chris the Swede's guide is pretty impressive, he made the project look simple.

I did not see within the thread but how much a project like this would cost?

Where to get the parts? SteveNL, parts.com and/or Ebay?

If the price is reasonable, I know I will want to do it too.

Agree. This will set you back $5K at least.

You can opt for the cheapest version of the new unit and shop around for used parts. It will still be around $3,500.

And for that kind of money you could have a very sweet aftermarket unit hooked to all the stock controls as well as an entirely upgraded set of components all around. The new navs are just as crappy as the old ones...they just have a slightly better look. Not at all worth it IMO.

$2K will only be the cost of a new cluster including installation and programming.

Trust me, you don't know what you are getting into.

My recommendation is to sit back and wait for further development.

I agree with silverbullet. Mercedes OEM nav is terrible and not worth upgrading to. A good aftermarket setup with a nice install would be a way better solution and cost significantly less.

Just replaced my nav., command, phone, etc. with a Pioneer AVIC-Z110BT, 600 watt power amp and subwoofer. Unit has AM/FM, iPod, Bluetooth and nav. Had my local MB dealer remove all old units from "ring" (firmware re-program). Instrument cluster works as it should and can set time through instrument cluster.
