Just wanted to rant about a poser I saw driving around Birmingham the other day.
At first glance I saw a car with an Aston Martin badge on the trunk and I was like cool, I would like to check this car out at the light. So, I stop right next to it and the front badge showing Aston Martin also, but one thing I noticed the front grille looks like of a Hyundai Genesis and it's a 4 door!
So I look at the guy and give him the "you're a dumbass" look then drove off.
I can't stand posers and this also goes for people with regular C and E classes putting AMG badges in their cars.

I can't imagine putting badges on something trying to make people think it's something it's not. If you don't have the real deal, so what, let it stand on it's own. The real owners know the difference, the subtlety of our cars is one of the things I like (no big wings and BS screaming "look at me I must be cool"), but I do appreciate the details that makes a real AMG an AMG.

I've asked around at the dealership, and from what they know there is only four C32 AMG's in my local area. Make that three, because one of them is just a C230 badged as a C32. You know those weird looking "v6 kompressor" stretched out badges they sell on needswings? Well, that "C32" has those on the side, C32 AMG on rear, and still has the stock exhaust...
Few weeks back was driving home from work, and ran into a debadged CLK with AMG emblem. Again, the stock exhaust was a dead giveaway. I just gave it WOT as I passed them... I hate posers too...

Yea the genesis does have the winglike aston logo, and not a regular hyundai badge. Although i must agree I hate posers as well. Whenever I go to Brooklyn I see plenty of AMG posers and even people posing their s classes as 600s etc.

The debadged (not rebadged) cars are the ones you have to look out for. I know of a 2006 red Kleemann S7 C55 with no badges at all that is monstrously quick and it looks like a std C55. So, badge engineering can cut both ways!!!
The one attached is the scary one for me. An 09 E550 Sport rebadged to an "older car." as an 04-06 E 55 AMG?? HUH????

You'll see a lot of those people in Korea.. Last night I saw a Tiburon with a ferrari badge and tail light mod that made the car "kinda" look like California (from distance).. When I got closer, I yelled wtf.
It's hard to justify about the AMG though.. If the car has everything AMG (side, bumper, muffler, etc) except for the engine, wouldn't that car deserves a badge? Like people put brabus badge even though they don't have their engine rebuilt by brabus.. U know?? Jst a thought...

Let say a C230 owner decided to change the numbers a bit and put it in his car as a C32, and slapped an AMG badge. Then get murdered by a V6 Mustang on a street race. I'm sure you would agree that Mustang will brag on how he killed a C32 AMG, not a C230 posing as C32...This is the point I'm making and I'm sure others feel the same.

I see your point. But most people would not know about Brabus, Kleemann, Renntech, Carlsson, etc. Unless you are talking to an enthusiast, but AMG's most people will know that so as an M3 or M5.

Well, the Tiburons were designed the same place as the Ferrari's, Maranello, Italy... So there is a little truth there. However, enough to throw on a scuderia badge? Negative.
