Spark Plugs OEM vs ....
Hello,
I am getting close to needing spark plugs and I looked and the OEM ones are over 200 for the set. I was thinking there would probably better performance ones in that price range. Does anyone have any recommendations?
Thanks!

I bought my NGK Iridium IX 2 Stage from https://www.sparkplugs.com/
First I contacted NGK directly to find the best plug for my planned modifications. NGK recommend a set not even listed. Smaller gap, and higher heat range. They cost around $10 dollars each. A set for your engine should be even cheaper. Just go with the basic Iridium IX.

you know what is funny... the plugs i have to use for my car is the coldest copper plugs i can get gapped to .07mm per Cory @ Kleemann
I just recently changed them with all of the engine fiasco ... they cost 0.88 cents each
x16 ...roughly 15 bucks for the set ![Wink](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/wink.gif)
Cheapest cold copper plugs and rocking out low 12's at 117-118mph lol

For the NA engines, I would suggest the NGK 3764. This is an iridium plug and is one step colder then stock.
For a FI motor, you can't beat copper for cost. A lot of old school guys swear by copper plugs. If you aren't making 700+HP I doubt you'll notice any loss or gain from using copper/iridium/platinum plugs.

just get the NGK iridium IX that's recommended. you will not likely feel any difference.
i took out my denso IK20 replaced it with iridium IX when i was diagnosing my car's idle issue few months back. made zero difference.

+1 Not only that, but the OEM plugs are included in the emissions warranty which is 8 years and 80,000 miles, so if they really are bad (which I doubt) they are under warranty. Unless of course you have a high mileage C55.
