Come in here take a look. Our 10k oil change crap
#26
I pulled my viper motor apart last year to build it up for supercharger duty. I had about 50-60k on in ant it still looked brand new inside. 10K oil changes with full synthetic of course!

One of two things happened, the first and most likely is the original owner went cheap and had dino oil put in instead of synthetic and also ran it for 20k+ miles. The second was they never had the oil changed until the buyer did it at 37k miles when he bought it. Even high mileage synthetic won't sludge like that, my bet is plain old oil got put in and it ruined that motor. I will almost guarantee the oil pick up is clogged shut with black sludge.
Our E28 M5 had 175k miles on it with Mobil 1 changed every 12-15k (whenever the computer said to change it) when we sold it and it looked nearly new inside.

i changed mine, once at 10K before( when i first got the car)... didn't look that bad from what i can remember. I do mine every 5K, just to get better MPG's (wishful)

For all the guys that have pulled motors apart-
if they are "new" on the inside....why are we pulling them apart? Top end or bottom end? There are SO many variables that could go into why your oil gets dirty.....
