Phiilips D2S Bulb
Stock output (looks like daylight) is 4300K and the nice white color is 6000K
Dont go to the dealer you will get raped
Try Ebay and plug in D2S
You'll pay more for Phillips but they last longer
I have the cheap chinese ones and they burn out every six to nine months .

The blueish look you look for is 8000 K
K stands for Kelvin and not thousandths and indicated color temperature.
3000K is the brightest (yellow) and represents actual daylight, 4300K is what most OEM manufacturers use, but Lexus seems to be using whiter bulbs (5000 K)

As you get higher into the color range, the more dim the light output will become. The blueish color doesnt show up as well at night. Purples and pinks are worst.

Philips doesnt make a 6000K/8000K D2s bulb (last time i checked 6 months ago)
So you will have to go with aftermarket if you want 6000K or 8000K. I would advise stay away from cheap brands and invest with a name brand. you get sick of replacing "ebay" bulbs regardless if it is warrantied. You get tuired of replacing bulbs all the time.

8000k is purple and it's also RICE.
6000k is a nice bluish/white
4300k is yellowish/white until it burns in, then it's pure white

I have a different opinion....
12000 K is purple
I was a lighting designer for dept stores a lonnnnnnng time ago......befoe the advent of Xenon lighting for cars
FYI Xenon Lighting is also used in parking garages and has been for a long time.

as you can see in the attachment color temperature is not restricted to HID Kits but used as reference for projectors, candles, and light bulbs

are you an engineer? or were you a sales guy titled "lighting designer" at a retail store?

anyways, i've been around cars and lights enough to say that 8000k looks like crap, and it is purple. 12000k is extremely purple and pink, the ultimate accessory for ricers. i can tell you that the chart you are referring to is not indicative of real life colors.

my point is that 8000k does not look like ANY factory xenon lighting. it looks purplish and it's not nearly as bright. the whole point of using 6000k bulbs is to simulate the white/blue light separation that you get from a high quality projector lens.

also most parking garage lights are high pressure sodium

Offtopic, i know what im talking about. Save your BS for somewhere else.
Its an opinion versus your youtube video.
Let the OP make his own conclusion.

Yes most DID because it was cheap and now it is being phased out in favor of xenon and now LEDs . The seven municipal parking garages I have built in the last six years use Xenon. The airport project I am working is going to try LEDs.

i believe the c32 frosty xenons are d2r's since there reflectors. They don't use projectors, the clear lens xenons are d2s.

either one would work, the D2r's have a metal tab on the bulb to reduce glare since there reflectors not projectors. The connector itself is the same on d2r's and d2s.

Philips does make 6k bulbs. There called Philips Ultinon's. There little over priced but does produce more lumens then the chinese 6k bulbs.

TO the op, i wouldn't go higher then 6k. The bluish and purplish color you see when you see a bmw or mercedes driving comes from the projector not the bulbs. All OEM bulbs are usually 4300k osram or philips.

THX!

Thanks for the info guys! I just purchased the original bulbs form eBay around 85 bucks with free shipping. The only problem I have now is driving around with one light looks really ghetto.

yeah just go with the 4300k. They will eventually color shift to 6k as they get older.

You mean 4300k will be brighter when it gets older? How does that work? I guess I will have to change both of them at the same time then.

The kelvin rating system is just to state color not brightness. For example 8000k isn't brighter then 4300k.

Brightness is measured in lumens. 4300k produces the most amount of lumens, thats why oem use that color. When you go higher in the kelvin rating like 6k or 8k, you lose lumens.

It only seems brighter because your brain pays more attention to purple and blue then yellow or white.

As the bulb gets older it starts to lose its brightness and changes color...going higher in the kelvin scale.

To get the same little blue color try the phillips HID Color match D2s bulb. is 5000k & is designet to match the color with one old 4300k factory hid number 85122CM (take care, the CM at the final = Color Match) are 5000k's

Hope that help

Fabio Daniel
