Anybody run a 65mm sc pulley on Kleemann blower?

Has anyone tried running a 65mm pulley on an old gen (autorotor) Kleemann supercharger and stock block? I wonder if the engine can handle it on 93 octane...

I have the 70mm but no 65mm, someone could prob run the math on the gain though assuming 70mm = 440rwhp as a baseline

I am currently running a 70mm pulley as well and making more than 440whp. Power output depends on other mods as well. Guess I'm going to have to have a 65mm pulley made and try it

I'm finally up and running for over 200 miles on a 65mm pulley, dual 3" CAI's and the 82mm TB. FINALLY!!!!!

Now I'm putting on the 172mm crank pulley and have her dyno'd this week.

I ran a 63,5 mm (2,5") pulley on my E55 and ended up with this

Car had bigger heat exchanger,separated IC cooling. Headers,exhaust and more.

As long as your timing and AFR is fine, i think you can do it. But also keep in mind that the stock N/A pistons are not made for F/I. The week point is the ring land. The first piston ring is to near the piston top (heat) and the piston might break.

But you are on more mods then i where, larger injectors,TB and more, so you might be fine with a 65mm pulley. Should turn your car into a complete monster!

Although it's easy to imagine Kleemann's response, what do they have to say about the prospect of using a 65mm pulley? Just curious.

What kind of boost do you expect with the 65mm pulley?
I wonder what the supercharger efficiency map will look like?

I keep telling everyone the same thing, this is the result is you dont do things right. Im postive nobody understands was boost does to the wrong combination of parts. Then everyone bad mouths the company who sold them the blower when in fact the people buying them have no idea what they are buying and what they r doing!!!! No boost building power adder is bolt on period!! I hate seeing destuction when it can clearly be avoided.

Nice, what was wrong with it? You're not gonna dyno before the bigger crank pulley as a baseline?

Wow! Yea I plan on getting retuned immediately after adding the pulley.

They've used them before on cars at higher altitude. If the tune s done right it should be fine. Should be over 10PSI with 65mm pulley. Should still be well within the supercharger efficiency range

Just an update. I did end up putting a 65mm pulley on my car a few weeks ago and got retuned (with as new intake). It makes ~10PSI. Hopefully I will have new track numbers within the next couple weeks. I have a track day planned April 2nd if the weather holds out.

That's exactly what the math calcs out to. Combined with a 170mm crank pulley the math works out to exactly 13.5psi. If you combine a 62.5mm pulley with a 170mm crank the result would exactly equal 1 bar. I could not go any bigger than 170 on the crank pulley since it would hit the other pulley unless I swap it out with a C63 AC pulley. The max would be a 185mm crank with a 60mm SC pulley with extreme wrap to yield 18.5psi which is my ideal target if either DynoComp or Evosport can tune for it using a 100 Oct map.

For some reason, I only get 6psi with a 70mm pulley and the stock crank pulley when the math formula calcs to 8.5psi. I think it's due to the 9:1 pistons since I have almost the same exact mods on it now (dual 3" intakes, 82TB, Kleemann complete kit) that you are running except for the cams of which yours are more aggressive.

Did you put a 270 degree wrap on it or something less extreme?

I forgot to mention that the SC shaft or bearings inside always breaks prematurely you run a smaller pulley on it.

The belt has to be tighter to prevent slippage and puts stress on the nose of the SC. This happened to me when I ran a 65mm pulley on the HPS. I had to get the nose piece replaced twice and the bearings too.

An extreme belt wrap puts even more stress on the shaft. I was talking to Brad Outopualik on Tuesday and he told me that Sleestack's CLK 430 which had a 55 NA block installed and a Kleemann SC with a 65mm pulley also cracked the bearings inside and Kleemann did not warranty the blower for a smaller pulley exactly for that reason. I'm not even sure they will repair or support the twin-srew blowers even for a fee/price since the parts may not even be available anymore.

The belt squeaks under heavy throttle like its slipping sometimes (using a gatorbelt) ... The pully was sourced locally here in Troy, IL from a metal fabrication shop.

I will let you know how it turns out @ the track. I am scheduled to stop by the dyno sometime late next week to get the results from the change. Just FYI your post questioning the change inspired my inquiry to get a 65mm - luckly I have a place close so we could source and replace.

To be honest though, the 'seat' dyno does not seem any different; i may switch back after getting the numbers

Did you add an tensioner pulley to increase the wrap degree?

So you experience any stutter at 2500-3000rpm? Did you adjust the voltage clamp to remove it? How did you measure the boost? with a boost gauage while driving? I assume Kleemann did not agree to adjust your tune for the added boost correct? Can you plot your latest 70mm result (from the same dyno, similar conditions) to your upcoming 65mm pulll and post it here? It'd be great if you showed the boost and psi curve on the chart too.

You ever get that dyno done? You think the shop you used could make me a custom 8 rib pully with an elongated shaft so that it would line up with where the OEM E55 sc puley sits? That way we could run a dual plane belt setup like W211 E55 and use a bigger crank pulley and avoid overspinning the accessories. It would also be 8 rib instead of 6 for less slip! I'm willing ot test the setup if your guys can make the pulley. It really shouldnt be hard at all to make it

Strange but DynoComp installed both the 65mm pulley combined with the 170mm crank pulley and my boost was only around 10psi when the math works out to 13.5psi. No slippage so I plan on going down to 62mm and up to 175mm crank. As long as I don't exceed 1 bar I think this 2 litre SC won't lose efficiency.
