Selling the car
Or more accurately, trading it in.
I'm sick of constantly sinking money into this car, and just waiting for something else to go wrong. I know that it was 100% my fault for buying this car without a warranty, but unfortunately the only thing I can do about that now is to cut my losses and get into something more reliable.
So the current plan is to trade in the C55, hopefully get between 17 and 18k for it and get into a new Mini Cooper S. I'll be sad to see the car go, but be ecstatic to get into a car that's still a lot of fun to drive, and comes with a bumper to bumper warranty, not to mention no charge scheduled maintenance for 3 years.
Thoughts?

Sorry to hear that you had so many problems (uncommon around here for the C55's) and sorry to hear you go man. Good luck with the new vehicle!

The only way to cut your cost is to spend hours to learn about the cars and get your hands dirty. There is no such car with zero problem. Good luck with your next choice and hope you will not say the same in your future forum!

My friend bought his 335i coupe, black on black, sport package, navigation for 32k with 24,000 miles on the clock with remaining 3 year 50k warranty in january of 09. I'd search high and low for a 335i with a warranty on it.

I'm looking at new minis, and might pull the trigger on a new Clubman S tomorrow. I basically just love how the mini looks, they are ridiculously fun to drive, and eminently parkable in NYC, as well as getting great MPGs.
I looked into the Mazdaspeed3 but I just can't drive a car that looks like that, plus I've heard very bad things about their interior.
I know that mini's have some reliability issues, but since I'll be buying new, and will undoubtably purchase an extended warranty when the original runs out, I'm not that concerned with it.

2005, 64k, basically no options. Couple of slight cosmetic issues (few scratches on hood and rear bumper and a broken fog light cover).

The leak was due to a bad seal, and coolant was also leaking, so they needed to replace the seal, water pump and hoses.
I test drove a Cooper S today and loved it. The handling was as advertised, and it had more than enough pickup for me. Was it a 368hp V8? No, but was is still fun as hell to drive? Yes.
I understand that the 335 is going to be a faster, arguably nicer car. However, after all of the headaches I've had, I wanted to buy new with a new car warranty and total peace of mind. The CPO warranties are just not good enough, especially considering I will be financing, and paying it off over a number of years.

With all the stuff you've replaced on your C55, what else can really go wrong? You've pretty much taken care of all the usual suspects. Why not just keep it and enjoy it now?
